“I will say I have also seen or read about some real tragedies involving kids and air guns. Quite a few serious and fatal injuries to truly innocent children.”
One could say the same about cars and teenagers...
They've improved a bit in the last 25 years.

This will be entered into the national database, so when he tries to buy a firearm as an adult, he will be rejected because of a previous assault involving a gun.
Actually, Washington Stat is pretty conservative when it comes to gun laws. Legal for a kid to have a pellet gun. Legal to shoot someone to stop them from committing a felony OR to prevent bodily harm. That’s anywhere you might be.
Plus the Castle Doctrine and she was in her room. I hope the kid gets a .22 or larger by the time (6 months?) the scumbag gets out of jail.
BTTT!
675fps is about right for the Sheriden. I don’t recall the pellet weight off hand but it was heavy for it’s caliber which really makes all the difference in penetration.
For that matter 675fps is about the velocity of the .38 S&W cartridge. It would penetrate a lot more than one board.
I have 5 .177 springers right now which are rated at 1000fps. I don’t have a chrony but have read enough reports by owners who do that most of them are no where near 1000fps except with the very lightest of regular pellets. Even then most are well under 1000fps. I do have one, a Turkish made one which I think is a bit hotter than the others.
I have actually owned and shot a Sheriden for many years. They really are powerful.
IIRC, the .38 S&W cartridge uses bullets heavy as 200 grains.
