Hosted by the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, the theme of tonight's Republican presidential debate is foreign policy and national security.
The debate is being held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
I would say after New Hampshire some of these people like Huntsman, Santorum, etc... still aren’t polling, then they need to bow out.
And he always punts. “I would do what those advisers around me suggest, if what they said had been verified”

I think I have it even ... here on my bookshelves.
When Obama talks “infrastructure”... I could get behind it if he meant refineries and oil.
Even the serious discussion of starting the program and BAM ... OPEC would drop prices.
Newt is part of the problem. He is part of the political class that got us into this mess. He is a big government RINO. He is the Green Conservative who supported Dede Scozzafava over a real conservative. He is not a leader or a manager.
Huntsman will rise like a dropped hammer.
Other than who the questions are directed to, Blitz is doing a decent job of moderating and staying out of the way.
Yeah! For sure!
If she could just come across as more Presidential, and less whiny woman, she would have a LOT more support.
Okay, commercial break, and here’s my take so far:
Romney - doing fine so far
Perry - doing better than expected, didn’t make any mistake
Bachman - HOT, gave some excellent answers
Cain - doing very well, no mistakes
Ron Paul - grumpy, some bad answers
Santorum - made some good points, I like him tonight
Huntsman - fair, not outshining tonight, the tan is fine.
Newt - brilliant!!! smartest of them all.
Bachmann said billion instead of trillion. Why do so many people make that mistake? It’s annoying.
I think CNN is leary on Bachmann and Santorum after that email leaked out about not asking them questions.
You tellin’ me where Galveston is?
It’s good that the questions so far are from intelligent people!
They couldn’t shut Cain down with the sexual harassment bs, so they are trying to shut him out of the debates.

Yea...I think he was trying to humor the audiance and it fell far short...wide silence gap when he was looking for a response he didn't get. Bachman, Perry and Newt all doing very well tonight....
My picks so far
Gingrich
Romney
Bachman-Perry tie
Cain- Santorum tie
Cain down on my list because he so far has been cut out of debates.
This may or may not hurt him. Santorum has answered very well !
Huntsman
Paul (Still running the presidency of Iran!)
Thanks. I think there are about a cool handful of us here appreciating Santorum, not that he’s my leading guy but still he strikes me as the most mature, honest and well-informed. Yet, you see some others saying he’s like a high schooler or that he stutters. Their comments make them sound like high schoolers themselves; those are not substantive complaints.
I think that is a valid point.
I don’t know. Trillion comes after 999 billion. I don’t get the error either.
