Sarah Palin's announcement that she wouldn't run for president disappointed her legions of admirers but it infuriated Roger Ailes. The Fox News chief wasn't angry about the decision itself. Rather, he was livid that Palin made the October 5 announcement on Mark Levin's conservative talk-radio program, robbing Fox News of an exclusive and a possible ratings bonanza. Fox was relegated to getting a follow-up interview with Palin on Greta Van Susteren's 10 p.m. show, after the news of Palin's decision had been drowned out by Steve Jobs's death. Ailes was so mad, he considered pulling her off the air entirely until her $1 million annual contract expires in 2013.
After the announcement, he called Fox's executive vice-president Bill Shine into a meeting. Shine is the network's principal point of contact with Palin. Ailes told him she had made a big mistake. "I paid her for two years to make this announcement on my network," Ailes pointedly told Shine. Sources described the episode on condition of anonymity, given the sensitivity of the relationships.
Palin is said to have made her announcement on Levin's show because she's been upset that Fox News has given a platform to Karl Rove, one of her principal critics. "She isn't happy with Karl," one Palin adviser told me. "From day one, he hasn't been very nice." Levin had become Palin's biggest booster in the conservative commentariat, and Palin is known for rewarding loyalists, and punishing her detractors.

He loved posting on the American Idol thread.
He always had very high standards and spoke well of his wife and daughters.
In fact I always thought they were very lucky to have such a man standing up for them.
LAZ is always and forever our HERO!
:::thank you!:::
Not playin’ here either regarding her endorsement. Let me know when she makes it. Otherwise not holding my breath.
I was one of the biggest supporters of Fox news for years, I had heated debates with my liberal brother over the “Fair and balanced” Fox News.
I now do not give the channel any time at all, with exceptions of news updates from time to time, or Hannity once in a while, or Gretta once in a while.
It was their treatment of Sarah that finally drove me away. It`s hard to think of a program on Fox that has not disrespected her at some point.
The new Fox Five have disrespected her to no end, even Meagan Kelly got in on the Palin bashing.
Aside from Sarah, they really have given the Tea Party any respect either, no real Tea Party panelists to speak of, probably outside of the odd person on Hannity.
Bret B Special Report has disrespected Sarah numerous times, his panel and that of FNS are just the same old Rep Est Rino`s.
Fox should have given a program to a real Tea Party person, instead of the folks on Five Fox, Fox Five whatever. Some will say Glenn Beck, not quite what I had in mind.
So Fox is really not Fair and balanced aside from their disrespecting Gov Palin, but they lost me with their treatment of Sarah, on top of the fact that I wasted a lot of valuble time watching Special REport night after night.
You wont find me defending Fox any more, they have moved left if anything.
CNN is not fair and balanced either! But atleast they are not claiming to be. Yes they are in the tank for Democrats, goes without saying.
I get most of my news right here at FR and others
Palladin exhibited the same type of behavior in regard to Christine O'Donnell. Post 131 11/01/2010 Jim Robinson to Palladin
Does Palladin hate all women or just conservative ones who run for political office? His comments are very much in line with recent statements made by Senator John McCain. Despicable.
Sorry you missed the point: one more try!
Defending her against PDSers, always!
SARAH PALIN IS INVINCIBLE!
WE KNOW THAT!
WE’RE HER SUPPORTERS IN ALL HER PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE ENDEAVORS, with one caveat: Don’t endorse Romney!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Yup. There was a thread some months ago where I was politely castigating someone and he was cheering me on in FR mail. LOL
Friends watch out for one another. And we have found a Champion. :-)
Wow! Not the guy I talked to. Either he was hiding who he was or someone else uses his account too.
Why do you hang on every SP thread, yet post on the Perry threads with your tongue hanging out? You do not even seem like a female,no sense of decency towards a viciously attacked Woman. Jealousy, envy, and hate are the only logical reasons.
WOW! That’s news to me! Goes back a long way!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING & so good to see you!!!
I’m not a PDSer, onyx.
I stayed away from the vast majority of her threads that were posted here. I didn’t comment “yeah” or “nay” on the woman.
I didn’t have a strong opinion about her as a candidate this past summer, nor do I have a strong opinion about her now.
I don’t think she needs my voice defending her when she is one of the most well-known political figures in the country who has made a lot of money taking care of herself and doing whatever the hell she wants. I’ve always seen her as an empowered woman.
For goodness sakes! She was the governor of Alaska. And she did well.
I wish her well now, and in her future.
I think what her supporters on FR do is blow apart lies and misrepresentations. I believe that defending conservatives is part of FR’s purpose. And I have seen a great many lies from the press posted on here as truth.
Didn’t say or call you a PDSer.
Sarah Palin ROCKS!
You’re right she was a very successful Governor and a hard-working, honest one, too, as proved by the media search and publication of over 26,000 of her emails.
Now, onto finding and supporting a worthy GOP candidate for POTUS!
What Rita, no PerryKrishna threads for you to fill with nonsense today?
Lies and misrepresentations. Gotcha. Where is the misrepresentation in this non-story about Ailes? Everyone knew when she announced on Levin’s show what Ailes’ reaction would be.
This is a discussion about nothing new or of interest.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
