Sarah Palin's announcement that she wouldn't run for president disappointed her legions of admirers but it infuriated Roger Ailes. The Fox News chief wasn't angry about the decision itself. Rather, he was livid that Palin made the October 5 announcement on Mark Levin's conservative talk-radio program, robbing Fox News of an exclusive and a possible ratings bonanza. Fox was relegated to getting a follow-up interview with Palin on Greta Van Susteren's 10 p.m. show, after the news of Palin's decision had been drowned out by Steve Jobs's death. Ailes was so mad, he considered pulling her off the air entirely until her $1 million annual contract expires in 2013.
After the announcement, he called Fox's executive vice-president Bill Shine into a meeting. Shine is the network's principal point of contact with Palin. Ailes told him she had made a big mistake. "I paid her for two years to make this announcement on my network," Ailes pointedly told Shine. Sources described the episode on condition of anonymity, given the sensitivity of the relationships.
Palin is said to have made her announcement on Levin's show because she's been upset that Fox News has given a platform to Karl Rove, one of her principal critics. "She isn't happy with Karl," one Palin adviser told me. "From day one, he hasn't been very nice." Levin had become Palin's biggest booster in the conservative commentariat, and Palin is known for rewarding loyalists, and punishing her detractors.

I wish! It's rainy and cold and I'm shivering my behind off! Ptooie! Winter! ;-)
This would be no surprise, since the FOX contract was created for the sole purpose of capturing her pending announcement, or non-announcement. I am shocked that it was not spelled out in those terms in the contract and that anything less would be grounds to sue her socks off.
However, with FOX pundits increasingly seen dissing her to some extent, and given that she can be vindictive if you’re not on her side, anyone could bet that she would take her ball elsewhere to another venue when she decided, finally, to end her kinda-sorta- maybe-iffy campaign, as payback. She had looked quite sour at the end but maybe they will pay her Trademark to endorse Romney in the end. Who knows.
You must not be from the south. When Sarah, several months ago, said, "Karl, bless his heart," she was dissing him big time.
Karl doesn't like Sarah because if Sarah ever runs for President, Karl will be a nothing on the national scene.
She infuriated me too.
She got spooked after that stupid book....her entire demeanor changed
Oh well....it was a perfect planet alignment....best shot she coulda had
And now after a serpentine followup I am left with Snewt over Romney
Woulda never figured that...
I wish her well but her impact has dimmed...unless she changes her mind
What's your proof?
You give FR a black eye...when you post that crap.
I’m focused and almost everything *out there* right now about our candidates is lamstream noise.
I’m planning to watch the debate tonight, with added interest, because one of the sponsors is American Hertitage.
Sarah Palin will always be defended here by her loyal supporters against the PDSers who can’t stop themselves from flocking to her threads.
If there’s even partial truth in this article -— and I think there is about Ailes getting mad -— then I am very happy!
Rove is a skunk and I say GO SARAH!
She’s called out Rove before!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
Screw Mr. I-Only-Hired-Her-Because-She-Was-Hot. For starters. He’s nowhere near the only one who needs to be.
And spare me the complaining about how she was supposedly out to enrich herself. Because first, I watched the last three years, and as far as I’m concerned there ain’t enough money, fame, or power on Earth to compensate for the grief she and her family got. I personally wouldn’t have put up with it for that long, much less contributed as much time and effort to building the party as she did.
And second, considering how many folks were willing to profit off her one way or another over that time, and how many folks still look at her as an endorsement, a bloc of votes and racks on racks on racks of cash for their (or their candidate’s) benefit, and (maybe) a token cabinet secretary or RNC chair...you know, let whoever’s without sin cast the first stone.
And third, after the clusterscrew the remaining field has made of it since she left, when her departure was supposed to open up the field for better, smarter, more articulate, less damaged candidates...well, again, let whoever’s candidate’s without sin cast the first stone. A little bit less snark and a lot more humility would go a long, long way, guys.
I am new to Texas and having a heck of a time dealing with 20 degree temperature swings! It's OK now, but I wouldn't bet on it being fit for man nor beast in 10 minutes.
I recommend Hot Toddys to keep old man winter at bay :)
He stopped posting with #75. I think he’s passed out drunk.
:^)
LOL. THAT ONE, never has proof of anyting. Just bloviates with the wind.
And I meant nothing by “Todd” in the “Toddy” part. I just read it after I posted and couldn’t help but LOL, though...
I wish that just once in my life I would get punished like that. "Bad Lurker-I'm going to give you a million dollars a year and NOT let you talk on my network. Let that be a lesson to you!"
Ha! I’m so cold that I’d end up drunk. I’ll have to stick to tea. ;-)
I know. Isn’t she just precious?
Do you know what channel the debate is on tonight?
I’m so cold that “Todd” in “toddy” didn’t even register. lol
In other words, you are saying that McGinniss achieved his objective.
So did Fox, all at the expense of the greatest natural talent in American politics. To top it off, they whine about not getting it all.
Correcto Mundo. I should have said “presumably the FOX contractors would have some interest in capturing her pending announcement, in writing.”
There. Fixed it.
