Three U.S. students have been arrested in Cairo for allegedly throwing firebombs at Egyptian security forces amid ongoing anti-government protests.
The Americans attend the American University in Cairo as exchange students. The school, which sits on Tahrir Square, the central protest site, confirmed the students' arrest.
National television showed video of the three, identified as Derrik Sweeney, from Georgetown University, Luke Gates, from Indiana University and Greg Porter, from Drexel University.
Kevin Sweeney, Derrick's father, told CBS Radio news that his son was being held in a courthouse in Cairo.

As for the three Americans in the Cairo clink..they will stay in jail until trial ( does Egypt have bail?) be convicted..and sentenced to time served..and expelled from the country...US can't , and should NOT, intervene on their behalf..it would be like defending terrorists...
I saw the Swedish Polis beat the living Skit out of some local Swede who was drunk and disorderly, gave him the full Rodney King in front of dozens of witnesses, yours truly included. I never intended to mess with Swedish, or any other police, but that just confirmed it.

Any American student stupid enough to attend college in any country that is the least bit hostile to the US deserves anything that happens to them.
Personally, I wouldn’t attend college in any foreign country. The world is way, way too unsettled.

I had a friend who was on leave from the Navy in Cairo. Someone was caught stealing from one of the market stalls.
They rounded up everyone in the market at the time, and they cut they guys hand off right there in front of everyone.
These students I am sure just want to be part of the big socialist movement. I am sure their professors encourage them to join the fray.
Probably not to lob firebombs at the military of a foreign country though.
This was plain stupid and they will be lucky if they get out of this without too much trouble. They sure looked terrified. They deserved to look terrified.
I figure someone will throw big bucks their way and the Egyptians will take it and make them leave the country.
