This is perhaps the first action with which he and I would agree - albeit for different reasons. We were sold this "supercommitte" line of crap during the debt ceiling debate, and I knew at that time it was a road to nowhere. Now that the debt ceiling has been raised, there are those who want to back-peddle on the objective of moving toward a balanced budget and reigning in our out of control borrowing. I call bull$5&t!
The Dims don't understand that we do not have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. The Repubes and RINOS don't have the backbone to target cuts where they are needed most - the endless gov't giveaway train. Well, tough - let the cuts begin!

$1 trillion in automatic spending cutsOf course, as always, there really aren't any cuts, only reductions in the rate of spending increases. They act like it's a big deal when it's not even a good start.

Exactly! WTG Boehner and crew. Bunch of idiots.
To: presidio9
The republicans have given Obama the stage to act like the tough guy in holding the line and forcing the mandatory cuts to go into effect. The media will not mention that the action doesn’t take place until 2013 or that he will change his tune after he gets reelected!

Weird... Ubama blames Republicans but then gives a warning to his own party of big spenders that he will veto their attempt to spend more. I guess this means the government is going to have to learn to live with the automatic 16% increase in spending it will be left with.
To: presidio9
What a SOB.
Spend us into oblivion, then set us up with defense cuts to reduce the debt.

The Republicans were idiots for getting into this crap. Correct. With Republicans controlling the House, the only roll-backs will be on military cuts. Obama gets to cut military spending and act like he's just being fiscally responsible.

It doesn’t matter. Obama is bluffing. As a defender of the welfare/warfare state, he doesn’t really want the automatic cuts. The GOP should call his bluff and embrace sequestration. They have an opportunity to paint him in a corner if they do this.

Republicans don’t like spending cuts? Only if the cuts affect the fellow behind the other tree! Tough luck.
