Anita Perry, the 59-year-old wife of Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry, has been very actively campaigning for him on her own all fall.
Now, she's taken on a new assignment. Mrs. Perry has launched an online drive to recruit hundreds of volunteers for what she calls the Perry Strike Force.
This would consist of Perry fans who would travel to Iowa and work across the state Jan. 2-4, getting out Perry caucus-goers to the hundreds of meeting sites on the evening of Jan. 3. (Don't worry, the BCS Championship Game is not until Jan. 9 this time.)
"With over 1,700 caucuses convening that evening," Mrs. Perry says in an e-mail blast to thousands of Perry supporters, "we need volunteers from across this great nation to assist Rick and I in reaching as many Iowans as possible. While every campaign relies on grassroots get-out-the-vote efforts on election day, Iowa's caucuses present an unusually demanding challenge for candidates. They are no all-day drop-by-and-vote-before-work-during-lunch-or-after-work affairs.
They all start across the state simultaneously at 7 p.m. Central time on a typically cold night and can run until close to midnight as neighbors try to persuade neighbors to vote for their candidate in the successive elimination ballots.

Look, I would love to see a strong Perry candidacy, but I don’t believe in making it easy for our guys. To put it bluntly, we all want a fighter for conservatism. The gaffes in the debates and the generally lackluster tone of the Perry campaign are telling. Is it possible that Perry’s heart is not in the race? If not, we have other candidates.

Why would you think that? Rick Perry has never run a race he didn’t expect to win.

I’m not trading insults with you, I’m just telling it like it is. Politics ain’t beanbag. The future of our country is at stake. You may not like how we vet candidates here, but that’s not my problem. We can either be brutally honest or we can remain in denial. Perry is nothing but a nuisance candidate in the single digits and if he wants to prove his Conservative bonafides, he should get out and endorse the man who can beat Zero, and that’s Herman Cain.
Well, maybe I’m just not familiar with his campaign style. It’s possible that the next six months will be telling and this current cycle will be a bad memory. It’s just frustrating to see a good candidate not gain the traction in the polls that he deserves.

They need to have a decent showing the next 2 games however. Both will be tough games. Not happy to be playing OU after they had a tough loss.

Oh, please.....amazing how many swallowed the Perry Kool-Aid.
Look at the actual facts:
(1) Perry has been raising money for years to run; he entered the race with three PACs (that we know of)......teeming with money.
(2) Perry cunningly did not actually enter the first contest---the Iowa Straw Poll----instead he calculatedly manipulated the vote from Texas. That was supposed to take him over the top. He got a pathetic 700 write-ins----but there he was front and center, posing in front of Iowa banners---waving the victory sign----as if he was the winner.
He stomped all over Bachmann's first place win with 4000 votes---she worked long and hard and spent money in the state.
"Team player" Perry threw his hat in the very day Bachmann won---stopping her hard-earned momentum.
For Perry---it's been downhill ever since the debates. Some of us thought he can't sink any lower, but with Anita's help........who knows?

Here's a rough blueprint...
After NH, I think the top three will still be hanging around ( Newt, Cain, Mitt). If Perry turns his camping around..it will be a 4 way race. Paul will be there..with between 5-10%..he'll stay till near the end..because he has $$..and his supporters are fanatical.. the second tier..Bachman, Santorum, Huntsman..with between 10-15% fo the vote combined..will have to drop out..no funds..and we'll see where their vote goes. If most flows to ONE candidate, it can be decisive..if it's spread around.. we continue..
My personal feeling is that Mitt's done after NH...he's gonna do 4th in Iowa..will only get a small plurality in NH, and will get wiped out in SC..I think you come down to Perry, Newt, and Cain..all with about 20-25% of the vote, some for Paul, and most undecided..if the following primaries, including Super Tuesday..aren't decisive...then we can come to Tampa with 3 in congtention..though obviosu that not ONE of them is the favorite...or can even command a majority..
After that..it's anyone's guess?

Perry has engineered the losingest strategy in presidential politics, to date: personally insulting and demeaning the people he needs to vote for him; cueing his supporters to insult and demean them; showing his contempt for the process.
And he has the gall to ask for support?
Perry's three ads -- a bio spot, an anti-Obama spot, and even one stupidly characterizing himself as an "outsider" ---- are ludicrous.
All of Perry's moves show his utter contempt for voters and for the American electoral process. Long past time for a candidate polling in single digits to wake up to reality and go home.

I would say it was just a bit different. He decided to join the race, and put together a plan to enter methodically. His plan was to spend two months putting an organization together, getting donors lined up, and fleshing out his campaign themes.
But he immediately jumped to the front of the pack, so he couldn’t just hide out and do what he was going to do. So he decided to join the debates, and make some appearances (very few appearances).
He figured even though he didn’t have his campaign themes, he could certainly explain his conservative positions at a debate. But as the front-runner, everybody targeted him, and rather than getting to talk about the dozens of solid conservative positions he held, or the dozens of solid conservative actions he had taken, his entire first debate was taken up with questions about a never-implemented school vaccination issue, and the entire second debate about a completely uncontroversial, near-unanimously approved bill from his first year in office that he signed.
Before he had a chance to get things together, he had not only been knocked down, but BECAUSE he had been in the front, he was written off.
If he had never risen to the top, his current poll numbers would be OK for a guy who was just now starting to come out and actively campaign.
