With police clearing out many of the "Occupy" encampments, one might think that the Obama-approved protests will be over soon. However, at the national convention of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) last weekend, there was talk of how the protests will eventually expand and "take indoor spaces" such as city halls and state capitols, in order to "unite" with "mass movements against state and local budget cuts and in defense of public sector unions." DSA members across the U.S. have been actively participating in the Occupy movement.
Such a strategy would put police officers, many of them members of public-sector unions, in a difficult situation. In the end, of course, they can be counted on to enforce the law, which has been ignored by "progressive" politicians in such cities as New York, Washington, D.C., and Oakland, Calif.
The politicians, including Obama, have been hoping the demonstrations would help their political campaigns by emphasizing the issue of "social inequality" and the need for bigger government and higher levels of taxation. The police, however, have understood from the start that the lawlessness must be stopped. What they may not understand is that they are being targeted in the process and that more confrontations are yet to come.
Many Occupy sites display open hatred for the police. It is so open that posters of cop-killers Mumia Abu Jamal and Lovelle Mixon are ominously affixed to tents. Mixon, a suspected child rapist, gunned down four Oakland officers as they sat eating breakfast; he is now an anointed hero of the Occupiers....

“Sounds like a second civil war is in the cards.”
Remember what happened with the black “People’s Army” (or whatever it was called) when they protested against the postal service in “I’m Gonna Get You Sucker”? The protest fell apart when the postal service hired them...
Any improvement in the job market will weaken these protests; otherwise the movement weakens Obama’s chances of re-election.
The article is a bit off on one subject. Lovelle Mixon did kill four Oakland officers, but not as they sat down to breakfast.
That “honor” was given to one Maurice Clemons, a Huckabee clemency recipient.
You bet.
Thank you for posting this. Placemark for tomorrow. If you decide to start an “Occupukes” ping list, put my name on it!
And hardly anybody pays attention during the “escalation” stage, when the ultimate trouble can be foreseen. Then when somebody gets shot, it bursts upon the MSM and Joe Sheeple is duly shocked, shocked! as though the news had come from Mars.
I say drop a cleaning agent on them. That with clear them out. They’re all allergic to soap.
Sure does. Regular citizens are going to get sick of this pretty soon. When they do, look out lefties.
That’ll do it.
These idiots are ALSO moving inside because the weather’s too cold to occupy the great outdoors.
Bunch of wusses.
THe DSA strategy of taking “inside spaces” has already hit New York and London, as possibly a few attempts at banks in California.
There is a definite need to treat these people as criminal trespassers and have them arrested and prosecuted. A criminal record can have a dampening affect on their career possibilties, something these “college students” didn’t seem to consider. Wasted money in my opinion.
I like your thinking. :)
I also think they have chosen a bad time of year to do this; people are prepping for the Holidays and will not want to put up with this crap...and one look at the OWS crowd and Joe Q knows he’s not a member nor would he want to be.
This is a movement to disrupt the 2012 election cycle, because the Kenyan knows he’s toast. They will move inside due to cold weather, not to reinforce the movement. Next year, they’ll move inside the polling places to inhibit the voting process.
Note to scumbags: I WILL VOTE!
I was at Zuccotti Park observing for about 15 days while it was Occupied. I observed several of their general assemblies, and in each one, they discussed interaction with the police. Early on (end of first week maybe), they decided to have NO contact with the numerous police surrounding the park (and who were actually protecting the occupiers). They discussed “direct action” against the police and constantly complained of police abuse. They refused to take responsibility for their actions which was the only reason NYPD ever took any action against them. Based on what I witnessed, I firmly believe that this movement will lead to widespread violence.

Don't need no weatherman to see which way the Occupied wind blows.
