Amy Mattson spotted this all-white whitetail deer near Grafton last weekend. A pink nose and presumably pink eyes - a deer bereft of any color - means the she appeared to be observing a rare albino deer.

Sorry, but I couldn't help but think of the Three Stooges:
"Oh, see the deer."
"Has the deer a little doe?"
"Yeah, two bucks!"

What a beautiful animal. I would love to have his head hanging on the wall of my den.

We have a group of white deer around the Fort Atkinson, Wis area. They are truly beautiful and mysterious to see. I had the nasty experience of talking to a creepy man at the local artesian well who said he had no problem killing them and he didn't care about the blankety blake DNR. He sounded like respecting the deer hunting season wasn't something he believed in either, like he would shoot them at any time. Yep, the man was quite the creepy one. I haven't seen a white deer in quite awhile. I hope it isn't because of him.

It's a beautiful animal. The White Deer is sacred and magical according to lore of the Chickasaw American Indian people of Oklahoma.

We have an albino doe that has been on our property for years. Shooting albinos is bad juju.

WE called them “Ghost Deer” where I grew up in the north woods.
One did not ‘advertise’ where one was seen. Most hunters will not shoot a ghost deer, not only because it’s illegal, but it’s considered bad luck.
I had a big buck that would go through my woods down here - I haven’t seen him for a few years. Deer population here is WAY down due to coyotes. Those I hear running though my woods at night, in packs, running deer. I hate to hear it.

Looks to be a true albino.
Looks like Edgar Winter around the eyes.

I've shot my share of deer over the last 30 years. If I saw something like that, I'd be too busy trying to take photos of it with my smartphone rather than shoot it with my 30-06. Some things just have too much beauty, rarity, and mystique about them to treat in a regular manner.
