Newt is smarter than Will, and Will knows it. But New alienated a lot on people in DC. That he got so much work is testimony to his knowledge of Government. Newt likes to think of himself as the American Churchill. I take his point. Churchill had many faults, personal and otherwise. A dowager one said of “Winston” that he had no antennae. That sure applies to Newt. He had been kicked often enough in the shins, however, that he realized needed to learn how to “take it.” Not as eloquent as Churchill, but more fluent.

Yep. I for one, though am tired of “nice guys” in the WH. I want someone who tells us what he’s thinking (which is what gets Newt into so much trouble) and one that doesn’t have antennea - or, in his case - a filter between his thoughts and his mouth. I think some of the big mistakes are a result of big ideas. We don’t need Jimmuh Carter in the White House.Newt is a dffient man than RR, but Newt handded him arguably the best strategy in the history of debates with the “are you better off than you were four years ago” attack when he was a FRESHMAN in Congress. That kind of tactician doesn’t come along often.
