Significant words of wisdom, acknowledging the 'Divine Providence' previously recognized in the 1776 Declaration of Independence and in the writings and speeches of America's Founders and leaders.
Their words pointed the people to the Creator as the Source of life, liberty, rights and laws to protect those rights. In turn, they directed any feelings of thanksgiving for the "Blessings of Liberty" to that "Being," not to themselves or other elected representatives.
Gov. William Bradford was my 8th great grandfather, and because he survived that first harsh winter, I am here today. I also give thanks for that.
