Read the extensive press release below.
Newt Gingrich Has Failed to Meet a Consistently Pro-Life Standard
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has failed to uphold a consistently pro-life stance throughout his career in public life. Gingrich has positioned himself as open to watering down the Republican Party’s commitment to the inalienable right to life and failed as the leader of the U.S. House of Representatives to stem the flow of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood, the largest U.S. provider of abortions.
(snip)
Under Newt Gingrich’s tenure as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives 1995-1999, the federal government channeled $587,073,070 to Planned Parenthood components – more than half a billion dollars – and his Republican-dominated House never voted to bar taxpayer funding to this largest U.S. abortion provider.
Total federal funding for Planned Parenthood Federation of America and affiliates, International Planned Parenthood Federation and associations, and the Alan Guttmacher Institute during FY1995 compared with the following four fiscal years budgeted under Gingrich’s speakership: PPFA's annual federal funding went from $120 million in FY1995, the fiscal year budgeted before Gingrich came to power, to $125.8 million in FY1999, the last fiscal year budget Gingrich negotiated with President Clinton. IPPF and Guttmacher taxpayer funding decreased, but funding for PPFA, the largest domestic abortion provider, remained fairly constant.

Who is in personal attack mode? This thread is about Bachmann attacking Newt.
And again, you shame the man you support by the way you attack Newt. And as someone who likes Cain and Newt - and in fact as someone who has worked FOR CAIN - I am appalled by your attitude towards Newt AND SO WOULD HC BE if he were to know about it.
To support Cain or Newt and yet to slam the other is to be intellectually incoherent. And your intellectual incoherence is frustrating.

I’m sorry but it is nonsense to insists on thread after thread you are “vetting” this candidate or that then turn around demand your candidate of choice be immune from the same attention.

You are obsessed with people. I am obsessed with ideas. You come to FR for only one purpose: to support Cain and attack others. I never see you engage in any philosophical or ideological debates on issues and never see you in any thread that is not candidate centered. I routinely debate in many areas that have nothing to do with candidate centered politics. You know what they say about small minds and people and great minds and ideas. No wait, I doubt you do.
You assume I have “A CANDIDATE” that that I am obsessed with that because that is WHAT DRIVES YOU. That is your right, but it keeps you from being able to read any other opinion with any comprehension because you keep projecting your agenda onto every other opinion.
My only agenda? I want to see Obama and as many other Democrats as possible removed and as many liberal ideas exposed in the process. I greatly like Cain and have been writing about him nationally since before you even knew who he was. But I also see positives in some other folks as well.
That is something you have not ever demonstrated an ability to do here on FR.

I need a truly pro-life candidate this time around. I’m sick of the Pro-life in name only candidates....PLINOS :) How far have we really come by electing pro-life moderates in preventing the murder, or even drastically reducing the murder of a million plus babies EVERY year? It’s done nothing but we still hold up wobbly armed “pro-life” candidates because they are willing to push for less abortions than democrats. I am guilty of falling into that trap of the lesser of two evils voting myself. So, to all you RINO candidates out there...either stand up for our smallest members of society or go take a hike.
As for Gingrich, he did become a Catholic a couple of years ago so maybe he might be 100% pro-life now. I’m willing to give him the chance to make that statement and promise true defense of all in the womb.

Get a clue, Folk:
Our problem in getting rid of Obama and liberal big government is trying to run old candidates with bad records that got this country in the fix we are now in.

I only use 10 commandments - Reagan’s 11th is junk. I think Freepers know that, and that is why we attack Romney.

I want to see Obama and as many other Democrats as possible removed and as many liberal ideas exposed in the process. Which should be the goal of all the candidates and of course us. Honestly I don't care who the candidate is as long as he/she can overthrow the Obama regime! Sure I have my preferences but... I will vote for whoever the candidate is NO MATTER WHAT.

[ PUH-leeze. Is that a serious analysis? ]
Its more serious than calling Newt, Perry or Cain a conservative.. at least a serious conservative..
Herman Cain was Vice President of a Federal Reserve Bank...
That does not happen unless you are “connected”.. and are still “connected”..

Small minds are concerned with people. Average minds with issues, but great minds are concerned with ideas.....
It’s really interesting to see the FR camp break into camps of those obsessed with personality and people versus those focused on saving the idea of America from the ideas of the left. Newt’s surge is an example of just that.
As I have stated, he has moved from “dead to me” to in my top 3. He understands the idea that the media and Obama are one and the same. He understands the idea that they are both the same as Occupy Wall Street and the liberal academic left and so on. He understands that this election is about who can attack the whole left better and is not about who can attack each other the best.
I think Cain understands the same thing. And I think that is why they have surged and Bachmann and Perry have dropped and why Santorum has never risen.
It’s the idea of saving America from the left that drives them - and why I like both of them.

Wrong numbers wrong trend, newt was around 10 to 12 %, the last couple months, but has changed 8 points give are take the margin of error the last two weeks. Nothing more, obummer still beats him by 10 point in national polls. And will beat him by more than the McCain margin should he make it that far. More conservatives and republicans and independents, will sit out on newt than they did McCain. His negatives already say that.

You are obviously eaten up with class envy and connection envy. Not everyone with connections is bad, and only someone with liberal knee jerk class envy buried deep within themselves would think so.
You are exposed.

Newt spent a half billion of our dollars assisting in killing babies and we want this turd for President? Really? Some FREEPERS are really becoming liberal.
To: org.whodat
Go ahead and twist the numbers so you don’t have to answer the question that you cannot answer. You refuse to answer it by pretending it isn’t happening. Go ahead and pretend Newt was never in low single digits. Go ahead and pretend his campaign was never given up for dead. Go ahead and pretend he’s only had a slight bump of 8%.
Go ahead. Pretend all you want. Reality does not require validation from the ignorant.

I sure hope the people of Iowa vote strongly in support of our Lady in the Race to be President.
I hope so too. She sure has principles. She is such a hero!!!!!! I love her, Santorum and Cain. The rest are revolting!!!!!
To: C. Edmund Wright
Bachmann and Santorum keep attacking other candidates on the notion that they are not socially conservative enough.
Well they both have the principles of truth. Sorry but the truth hurts and obviously you have your butt hurt because your candidate is a liberal.

Yep, all by himself. He was King then and had total control of the money. Heck, I think he even assisted in some of the procedures. I remember it well, Gingrich ruled all and had total control of everything. Bill Clinton was not around, the media was not around. It was all Newt all the time. That’s how our system works.
Glad you figured it out.

There was no question to answer, dummy, why do you suppose is not a question, dang!, The answer is I suppose you are wrong and have made a mountain out of a mole hill, an 8 point increase is an 8 point increase, ask perry about his 20 point plung, that is movement.

Get your head out of the sand - or wherever it is.
I like the principles of both Santorum and Bachmann but they are both also petty and both out of step with what this campaign is about and both have failed to inspire confidence in themselves. They do not have the corner on the market of social conservatism simply because they stress it more. Folks can walk and chew gum at the same time.
I also don’t have “A CANDIDATE” and none of the 3 of my faves are liberals. Being against Bachmann and Santorum does not mean disagreeing with them on issues or principles. There are more to candidates than check boxes on issues.
