DES MOINES, Iowa A gathering of religious conservatives in Iowa Saturday night turned into one of the most emotional moments of the 2012 primary season when two presidential candidates Herman Cain and Rick Santorum both fought back tears while telling personal stories about the most challenging moments in their lives.
Cain, whose wife, Gloria, was in the audience, spoke about being diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in 2006, stopping several times during his re-telling of the story to compose himself.
I can do this, Cain said he told his wife moments after getting the cancer diagnosis from his doctor. She said we.
Fellow candidate Rick Perry, who was seated next to Cain at the forum, which is sponsored by the Christian conservative organization The Family Leader, reached over and touched Cain on the shoulder, consoling him.

Thanks.. Just watched the entire debate. It was great!
No wonder why the slimes the MSM and Press are not talking about it.
The only loser in this debate was Mitt Romney for not being there.
Everyone did a great job.

There were moments of TMI. Especially with Santorum.
I thought the headline read sounding like “tare up” rather than “tier up”.
He had to drive his dog to the airport.
Go Cain !
THank you all for the posts and the links. Will watch later this evening.
Just another PING to keep this thread alive. People, this cannot get enough exposure!
It was a gathering of religious Conservatives. Not a gathering of Democrats masquerading as Republicans. Did you expect Rommney to be there?

I haven't finished, but this is wonderful!!!......a better look at ALL six of them.
To say this...
ummm not hardly. But you keep dreaming there s40.
That is her "sin." The playground bullies are incensed that somebody imitated their SOP of following people from thread to thread. What she said was child's play compared to some of the nasty comments they have made. They are rabid.
They would be an interesting study of group dynamics for people who do that; the group think is amazing even to those who don't study group think.
They have run a lot of people off and have hurt the FReepathon because attacked people are not contributing.
It's time for them to put their money where their moths are because they have hurt FR more than they even begin to realize.
They have abused JR's trust, IMO.
As for being "rabid" and the lack of civility in posts...
You and the one you defend are a couple of the most vile posters here. But you don't hear us complain, we just keep posting and yes, we do contribute.
This is typical of you and the pro-Perry crowd.

Have a nice day.
Thanks for the link.
This video is well worth watching. It's long. Preliminaries take up the first half hour or so, the the rest is very interesting.
It is interesting that Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman are not there. Their absence reveals an interesting dicotomy. These six participants are all conservatives who come were raised in rather meager situations. The absentees are moderate to liberal and come from wealthier upbringings. I would really like to hear the absentees' answers to some of these questions.
They have abused JR's trust, IMO.
Are you sure that's an opinion? I don't think so. Sounds more like a statement. You have inside information? Come on, let's have it. Are you speaking for FR?
The actual debate/forum starts about 37 minutes in to the video.
You make a good point about Romney and Huntsman. They would have stuck out like sore thumbs.
