Should Mitt Romney be the nominee of the Republican party for president in 2012? Perhaps. Should voters support him because he's the "inevitable" nominee? No.
For one thing, his nomination is evitable - perhaps all too evitable (see below). For another, we are a proud, self-governing people. We're sometimes even an obstreperous bunchâand a good thing it is for the cause of liberty. We often balk at yielding meekly to claims of inevitability. Here in America, we the people rule by electing. We don't bow to those anointed by pundits.
But really, you might ask - isn't Romney inevitable? And the answer is, really, no.

Thank you very much Sandy for answering my question.
There are some things I agree with you on in your statement, however in my opinion Romney’s governance is very liberal and that is why I will not support him for president.
Not much...
You MORMONs still baptizing yerselves for dead JEWS?
You mindreading Mitt now?
Jews are under the Law (Old Testament), Christians are under Grace (New Testament). When Jesus was Crucified the Temple curtain was torn from top to bottom, removing the secrets, opening up the Temple for all, no more garments, no more secret ceremonies.
Sandy Christians are free from the “secret” undergarments of the Jews. Secret undergarments are not Biblical for Christians.
As a side note my lds uncle (former bishop) has told me he is supporting Romney only because he is lds. We have talked about Romney’s political record and it matters not a wit to my uncle. I haven’t talked to my lds friends or other family members, at this point I have decided I’ll wait till the holidays are over, no sense in having blowouts for Thanksgiving or Christmas. ;-)
And given his record, as much as the Mormon god can as well.
With two opus’. And you didn’t answer my question. Where does his Mormonism fit in other than you ‘trust’ him (which shows you have zero discernment btw).
He mentioned that Jews wear sacred under garments. I did not know that.
- - - - - -
Because THEY DON”T. Orthodox Jews wear sacred garments (like the tallit) under their street clothes (often not always). Not the same as LDS holy underwear.
And Jews are pretending to be Christians like Mormons. But go ahead and keep repeating the same lame pat answers SLC feeds you.
Nice words, too bad none of you follow it.
SV, what did you see in Sandy’s statement that I didn’t? I did not agree with a SINGLE one of her glowing assertions about Romney, and that is aside from the fact that she is mind reading and projecting onto him.
Mitt isn’t honest, he hasn’t admitted mistakes (not honestly0, he didn’t ‘save’ the Olympics, he believes in a false Christ, he isn’t honest or trustworthy, Seriously, I saw Sandy’s comment and thought she had to be talking about someone else because Romney isn’t any of those things and his own record proves that.
He has a nice looking family.
Mitt is Obama with magic underwear.
Ok, I guess I’ll give him that.
I do wonder, Sandy, if you would be so glowing about Mitt if one of you wasn’t LDS though. If Mitt were an Evangelical Christian would you still support him?
As to the projections, you are of course correct. It is very similar to those who are Paul supporters, they project what they wish him to be. Neither man is who his avid supports think that he is. When you bring up records and statements they either deny that it was said, or that it was reported in correctly or ignore the evidence altogether.
Romney and Paul do both have nice looking families.
However, although I disagree with some of Romney's political positions in the past I do respect him, I like him personally and think he has many admirable aspects.
I am amazed and terribly disappointed at the heavy personal attacks heaped on him on this site.
I have always believed conservatives to be better than what I am seeing on FR. The ones I know and have known over the years would never stoop to the stuff I am reading - stuff I don't believe at all.
What is it that you don’t beleive in his political record, his flip flops, his liberalism?
You like him personally, do you know him personally to make that judgment?
Are you confusing criticisms of his policies and governance with attacks of him personally?
Would you be willing to say which parts of Romney’s governance you agree with?
People can and do change their minds on issues, it is part of human nature, however with Romney he denies he ever held those positions IE abortion, homosexual agenda, gun control just to name a few. If he has changed his mind, why? What event led to that change?
It is very difficult to trust a man who does not know from one speech to the next what position he holds on any given issue.
Stuff that is DOCUMENTED, stuff he has LIED about (like becoming pro life).
Mitt is slimy and will say anything to get elected. That is a fact, easily proven.
Conservatives on this site see him for what he really is, not the PR image he puts out.
I don’t believe he HAS changed his mind, not really.
