A non-violent protest at UC Davis turned chaotic Friday afternoon as police pepper-sprayed a group of students sitting on the ground. Videos shot at the scene show a policeman walking up to the protesters, pulling out his can of pepper spray to display to the crowd, and liberally sweeping the protesters with the stinging substance. Many students had their heads down, but at least one demonstrator was hit in the face. Other officers then followed suit, spraying many of the Occupiers who appeared to be sitting in a circle with their arms linked. By midday Saturday, videos of the showdown were circulating the Internet.

The protesters should be THANKING the police. By spraying them first, the protesters became unable to resist, and dislocations and other injuries were avoided when police pulled them apart.
I saw them get sprayed like a bunch of insects.
Laughed my ass off...
handcuffs? Thats silly, they were all interlocking arms, huddled in. THAT is where the scuffles and injuries would be,,. That is why pepper spray was selected,, much less chance of injury. Better rate of accomplishing the goal.
Would you advocate the same tactics being used against people protesting at an abortion clinic?
Don't know about you, but when a cop tells someone to leave, and then draws his weapon (non-lethal or not), then that's a strong indication that it's time to leave.
What else do you do when you tell people to leave, and they refuse your order? Open fire with real bullets?
LOL
But they don't behave that way, do they?
If they surround cops and block their car in an effort to stop them from leaving with someone who they lawfully arrested,,,absolutely yes.
And i havent seen abortion protesters attack cops.
I’m amazed that a FReeper of 13 years would drink Time Magazines and the leftists Kool-Aid.
The video ran 10 seconds before the officer started spraying the students. The video then goes on for about 8 minutes with the students shouting “shame on you.”
Did it ever cross your mind that what took place for 8 minutes or 80 minutes before the officer started spraying could possibly be the reason the pepper spray was used?
UC Davis Police officers in riot gear warned Occupy UC Davis demonstrators to pack up their tents and leave the field located between the Memorial Union and Shields Library at about 3:00 p.m., and then moved in to take down the protesters tents a half hour later.
University officials had warned students several times since Thursday that camping would not be allowed on the quad.
A growing crowd filled the field as officers hauled away tents and a number of protesters linked arms and sat down on the path in the middle of the field, defying orders to leave. Shortly before 4:00 p.m., an officer used a can of pepper spray to coat the sitting demonstrators in the chemical dispersant before officers began taking students into custody one by one.
Poor OP forgot about finding out the context. The piece these commie losers don't want him to consider.
Thanks for the clarifying posts to those that fall victim to this manipulation.
As I said on another post, organizers of OWS, and we all know who they are, are just itching for a Kent State moment. Which naive, useful idiots are gonna, literaly, take a bullet for the team? If, G-d forbid it comes to this, as far as I’m concerned the DNC, the unions(actually the thugs that run them, not necessarily the rank and file), Soros, etc will have blood on THEIR hands.

Thanks for the clarifying posts to those that fall victim to this manipulation. This quote was taken from link that Qbert #44 posted.
“When the same cheerleaders on these threads get sprayed for booing their Representative at a town hall”
Bullcrap,,, nothing like that happened. Call us when people at a townhall block the path of a cop car trying to leave with someone legitimately arrested. They weren’t sprayed for yelling,,,, i doubt you noticed, but the entire video was filled with yelling and booing people who were completely ignored by the cops.
This is how you deal with these people. Send in Schiff with his sign and these people will literally explode.

They did not spray them to punish. They sprayed them to force them to move.
How do you "remove" a crowd that has you outnumbered? How would you have done it?
When they go to Occupy Congress.... just think about a Reichstag Fire moment for them
