None of us can pretend to know what motivates Sarah Palin to do what she does. Sure, theres money. And attention. And more money and attention. But todays Palin op-ed goes in a different direction. Palin moves away from the pure cultural populism that has defined her since her run for the vice presidency and back toward the reformist populism that characterized her time as governor of Alaska. She turns her resentment away from cultural elites and focuses it on political elites of both parties, arguing sensibly! that being elected to Congress admits one to a veritable merry-go-round of special interest wealth and influence-peddling. She proposes reforms and even gives a shout-out to both the tea party and Occupy Wall Street movements:
No more sweetheart land deals with campaign contributors. No gifts of IPO shares. No trading of stocks related to committee assignments. No earmarks where the congressman receives a direct benefit. No accepting campaign contributions while Congress is in session. No lobbyists as family members, and no transitioning into a lobbying career after leaving office. No more revolving door, ever.
This call for real reform must transcend political parties. The grass-roots movements of the right and the left should embrace this. The tea partys mission has always been opposition to waste and crony capitalism, and the Occupy protesters must realize that Washington politicians have been Occupying Wall Street long before anyone pitched a tent in Zuccotti Park."
Whats surprising about this: Palin really is going it alone here. Among the major Republican presidential candidates and party establishment, and even tea party activists, this type of economic and good government populism barely exists....

You’re hallucinating.
You ain’t dreaming. Wait for it...
A new show?
A new effort to jerk around supporters?
Tell us, do, what she's reconsidering!
If I send money will she tell me?
The author of the article is crazy when he says TEA Party and real conservatives don’t already agree with those ideas. She is not going out on a limb with those statements unless your a member of the established elite.
She’s right.
“Whats surprising about this: Palin really is going it alone here. Among the major Republican presidential candidates and party establishment, and even tea party activists, this type of economic and good government populism barely exists....”
Writer don’t know her too well, do he?
It took you almost three minutes? Were you outside or in another room?
S! HAS been keeping a low profile lately.
The writer is pining for Huey Long. Sad.
I just wish I could vote for her.
“Does anyone else sense that she might be reconsidering? Or am I just day dreaming?”
Sarah said she would not see the “GOP” nomination. By saying it the way she did shemay be going TEA Party for POTUS.
If Mitt gets the nod, I wouldn’t doubt it. And And if there is no conservative running, some of us will need someone to vote for.
if it were her vs. obama or a ham sandwich vs. obama, i know you’d be able to vote against obama.
She is right, of course.
And one reason why I think she is the only person fit for the job is that she proved it when she ran for Governor of Alaska. She defeated the Republican Corrupt Bastards Club as well as the Corrupt Democrats, and she put her words into practice when she got in.
She was one of the very few politicians I have seen in my lifetime who not only cut back on spending at her level, but turned back Federal pork as well. How many state level politicians have done that? Even so-called conservative politicians?
It’s an excellent call to arms. I don’t see her “reconsidering” but I do see her affecting the debate in deep and meaningful ways.
She is going to have huge influence in the affairs of this country.
Look at how the term “crony capitalism” is now a staple of the debate.
Even the liberal media is using it... without attribution, of course, but so what.
No, I just had a fire in my belly.
I took a Tums, it went away.
Is this a part of her “Unconventional” campaign....I think so....she was lit last night on Hannity....you could see it in her eyes.....
Screw him, Sarah has consistently been a crusader requiring honesty in government employees, from the very first. She never left this position.
And she's not running, so Rat shills are gonna have to come up with something else.
