Second Mile chairman gave money to judge who arraigned Sandusky

Robert Poole, chairman of the state board of directors for The Second Mile, contributed about $2,400 to the campaign of Magisterial District Judge Leslie Dutchcot in 2007, according to Dutchcot’s campaign finance reports.

Dutchcot arraigned Jerry Sandusky and set the $100,000 unsecured bail, after the Attorney General’s Office asked for a higher, cash bail and electronic monitoring.

Criticism has arisen that Dutchcot had a conflict of interest with The Second Mile, as a volunteer and donor for the organization Dutchcot.

She has not commented on that issue, saying previously that a judge is not allowed to comment on pending cases. She did not return a message Thursday seeking comment on Poole’s campaign contributions.

Messages left for Poole at his local companies, Poole Anderson Construction and S&A Homes, were not returned.

According to Dutchcot’s campaign finance reports, Robert and Sandra Poole donated $1,463.02 on Oct. 9, 2007, in the form of a fundraiser held at their home. On Oct. 31, 2007, the couple donated $1,000.

Conflict of interest? In "pure" Happy Valley? Nah. Ya don't say?

Hmmm...Why aren't Penn State students turning over media vans over this?

Where's the provocation amongst State College residents?

Is it there?

Or has the "culture of indifference" gone back to business as usual?

If this thing keeps spreading like it has, even Ubama might eventually be caught up in the Sandusky scandal.

Winning!

Clearly a conflict of interest. Yet I thought a new judge was taking over. Which makes this a mute point if true.

Except to say Sandusky has been pampered and covered for by just about everyone in his midst. Not anymore. The world is watching and it is right that it has blown up and implicated them all in this case. Mass enabling.

How is this judge not removed from the bench for this?

Sounds like she is part of the cabal protecting the pedo-ring.

I would say there should be some kind of disciplinary action against her, unles the whole state is as corrupt as our federal government, which it probably is!

Nicely worded and true. I love how these evil yahoos are now being seen and implicated as the enablers and ultimately criminals that they are.

Well, his house hasn't.

Another window (vandalism) was broken overnight. Twice now in the last 2 weeks.

Penn State students are about to break for Thanksgiving. This is their last day of class before a week's break. Right after they return, they're heading into final exams. Many of them are busy studying right now, as well they should. The rest are probably packing their bags and heading home.

As on any campus, there are students(most) who keep a cool head on their shoulders and others who are overcome with emotion. This has been a very difficult time for many of them, and yet they are responding with fund raisers and a vigil for the victims. Penn State students didn't commit these criminal acts against children, and their trust has also been betrayed by leaders lacking integrity. Overturning the media van and damaging property was wrong - no doubt about it. Most of the students realize that, and only a handful of them participated in that behavior. More responsible students were quick to condemn the excess and put their energy into supporting the victims and into rebuilding their school community.

I don’t know the local politics of this judicial race or the judge’s party affiliation, but I’m familiar with the magisterial justice race in our own (PA) community. It would not be unusual for a sitting judge to receive donations from within the legal community or from well-heeled members of the local Dem or GOP party. They are forbidden from participating in partisan activities while serving on the bench, which makes them somewhat invisible during the 6 year term. When it’s time for a re-election bid, they need some money to run a campaign. Turning to local party members and colleagues for support would be nothing out of the ordinary, and this sum isn’t large enough that I’d assume too much from it. It’s worth a closer look, but it may be nothing unusual.

Yes, but a lot can be reconstructed..and a subpoena, and the threat of obstructing justice..can shake out a lot of cobwebs..I’m sure there are several at 2nd mile who know where all the bodies are buried...and will spill the beans for immunity..<P.
i’ve seen Gov. Corbett on the tube a few times, and frankly, have been less than impressed..

It’s not moot. She let Sandusky out without him putting up a dime. That alone is enough.

No. You’re right. It isn’t mute regarding her behavior and in fact it speaks to the breadth and depth of the enabling as well. Her conduct and motives are absolutely worth looking at. And ultimately her effectiveness, and objectivity (or lack there of) as a judge. It has taken me awhile to take in the weight and all the many facets of this situation.

It's hard to believe that the judhe wouldn't see that she had so many OBVIOUS conflicts of interest tjhat she wouldn't immediately recuse herself...that's what is driving people nuts..the sheer arrogance..the lack of judicial common sense...

Or, as I wrote here somewhat cynically a few days ago..she purposely let him out..and he didn't even have to post a bond..because it's all a BIG conspiracy..she wanted to make it as easy as possibly for Sandusky to kill himself..and frankly, that makes MORE sense than her not thinking she had a duty to recuse..

My exact initial response reading your post, think free or die.

Here you go on & on how it's not unusual for a judge to get donations from here & there. That's not the point...unless the Second Mile Foundation is linked to every single judge in that region.

The point is why didn't she recuse herself? And why didn't that come up in your post?

Or do you just live in an overall region that has forgotten how to think freely?
