A 30-year-old man who allegedly tried to rob a Southeast Portland bar with a sawed-off shotgun early this morning got far more than he bargained for when he ran into an employee who goes by the nickname "Stub."
Instead of leaving with cash, the man was hauled off in an ambulance.

Amazed (then again maybe not] that other news sources referred to the shotgun as a rifle.
I don’t think Oregon has a CCL. Verrrrry lib state. Hope Stubb isn’t the new focus of police attention.
Multiple non-life threatening shots to the body = poor shooting?
Another man arrested for robbing while black.
Oregon has CCL....just no reciprocity....but, yes, IT IS VERY LIB, especially in Portland.
“Multiple non-life threatening shots to the body = poor shooting?”
I am going to guess...9mm. The right choice for when you want to use up all of your ammunition......
Glad to hear it! Yeah, I could not live there. It’s painful just to visit!
I would say that under stress he did well, the perp was carried away not him. But if it had been me, I have CC for 12 years the perp would have been pronounced dead at scene. practice practice practice.
Before MN. had “shall issue”, a business owner or worker could obtain a pistol permit from county sheriff’s office.
Perhaps this was the case here.
It might just be that ‘Stubbs” didn’t want to kill anybody that night.
Other news links say he was hit in the legs.
“Another man arrested for robbing while black.”
VERY unusual.
(snort!)
Explains why they have been featured in the recent OWS protests.
Actually Oregon has a pretty good CCL. Oregon is a “shall issue” state that prohibits local gun ordinances that conflict with state law. We can carry just about anywhere except,(if I recall correctly), police stations and courthouses.
In my home town of Newberg, we recently had a controversy over the local school district’s policy of prohibiting carrying of concealed handguns. They were forced to change the policy when our state rep pointing out that the prohibition policy was illegal under state law.
Stubb is likely on solid ground as far as criminal law. As someone else pointed out, he is likely in more jeopardy from a civil lawsuit.
Anytime you’re confronted by armed man and walk away is a great day. All the rest is nit picking. Putting the perp down should have been his primary objective and he did.
A lot of folks think simply having a gun means you’ll be prepared to use it. Shooting people while under stress is not the easiest thing in the world to do. Pistol accuracy—even as close as 8 or 10 feet—can only be achieved with lots of range time. I suspect the clerk was not an accomplished shooter. But he did manage to get the safety off and prevail. Kudos to him.

I've got two words for that:
"Femoral artery", hit that and you're dead!

And in Minnesota, if you do not have a carry permit, you could have one at your place of business.
