In 1996, we had the following candidates:
Steve Forbes, Richard Lugar, Pat Buchanan, Lamar Alexander and the doddering Washington insider Bob Dole.
Is the current bunch any better than the above?
Not much.
and we now have an MSM that is even MORE in the tank for the Democrats than ever
Yes, they are better. Much better. And the economy during Impeached42’s term was doing MUCH better than during Hussein.
I don’t buy this doom and gloom crap. Hussein is not loved by anyone except his base and the MEDIA. Independents are sick of him.
Remember how during the 2004 and 2008 campaigns the media would CONSTANTLY talk about the problems Bush and McCain had with Independents? I do.
Today, you NEVER see a network or local “news” source talking about independents. Know why? Because they are turning on Hussein in massive numbers.
0bummer is much worse than Clintoon.
The current crop of GOP candidates are marginally better.
As long as a third party spoiler doesn’t come along, we could be in decent shape to win.
Perot ran in 1992 and 1996.. He had a bigger impact in the 1992 election.. but still thanks to him we got Clinton.. total a$$Hat..
Conservatives were told by the GOP Machine to just ignore their dubious political history and to fall for the Cult of Personality PR campaign manufacture around their resumes.
In 2012, Newt Gingrich is the Bob Dole/John McCain type candidate only without the military service
Worst field, ever. And I say that as a Cain supporter, but if Cain doesn't improve..this field is by far the worst ever. Better to focus on winning the House and Senate, and getting gridlock for Obama's second term.
Possibly worse.
Yes, as much as I have problems with Newt and Perry should Cain not rise to the top (or even Bachman), I’d grudgingly vote affirmatively. I will not under ANY circumstance cast a vote for Romney....in 1996, Dole was the “previously” picked last of the greatest generation. His campaign was lost from the start, yet obediently obligatory for the Republicn masses...we’ve learned a damned sight more after McLame and it ain’t gonna happen again with Romney..
2012 is not like 1996. Imagine 1980, had Ronald Reagan surrendered to the pundits and GOP elites who said that he was “too old” and “too extreme,” and announced he wasn’t running. That’s what 2012 will be like.
