At least the hippies had the draft to protest.

These coddled idiots don't have a clue why they're so mad.

I know a 58 year old teenager from an extremely affluent part of the SF peninsula who has just inherited a cottage in Martha's Vineyards, and who is SO proud that his son (who graduated from a prestigious art college in Delaware with an degree in sculpture) was shown on the local news screaming his pampered head off at the OWS protest in downtown SF.

The punk has never turned in an honest days work in his LIFE.

Back in the 1960s, I went to a high school in NYC where virtually everybody came from a privileged family - and they were the first ones out there screaming about how oppressed they were and how the revolution had to come now.

Many of them were the so-called red-diaper babies, that is, the children of hard leftists. The fact that said leftists had made it big in capitalism and were at that point attorneys, doctors, media and ad execs didn’t diminish their romantic longing for Marxism. The problem is that their children (the kids I went to high school with), after their SDS fling went on to become teachers and professors and corrupt many crops of the gullible well-off young.

Very bizarre. Castro’s “revolution” was conducted almost entirely by well-off university students, such as Che. Cuba at that time had one of the highest literacy rates in the hemisphere and was not very far behind in its standard of living...until the “revolution” came and destroyed life for everybody except the party apparatchiks (those same university students).
