While some conservatives abandoned Herman Cain over specious, unsubstantiated sexual harassment allegations from the 1990's and/or his lack of 'government 'experience', others want to cling to Newt Gingrich despite his obvious lack of conviction on many conservative issues and values. This is frustrating to those of us who see Gingrich and all the other 'experienced' politicians that want the Republican presidential nomination as being 'part of the problem' that they now pledge to solve. I'm not buying it.

These recent revelations of how Newt Gingrich made big bucks by using his 'government experience' to help lobbying firms push congress for ethanol subsidies, among other interests, simply crystallizes the fact that Newt, for all his intelligence, is really just an establishment Republican who talks a good conservative game but likely wouldn't be the change agent we need to defeat Obama and start the road back from his deliberate trashing of Americas economy and it's place in the world. I remain a Herman Cain supporter. He doesn't pretend to have a glib answer to every question and he doesn't have that vaunted government 'experience'. You know, the kind that helped get us where we are now, some 15 trillion in debt.

I think when people see that Newt keeps him promises as in say the Contract With America. When they see that he reduced government spending, balanced the Federal Budget and reformed welfare they just might conclude that Newt is the kind of insider they would like to see back in the inside. Just saying

The problem with Herman is that he has less breadth and depth concerning world affairs than the average poster here at FR. And I might add that I like Herman and think you are absolutely correct about the debt run up by the best and brightest.

I don’t know of any conservatives who abandoned Herman Cain over the cheap shots and dirt thrown at him. But you won’t help him by doing the same thing to Newt.

The WSJ reports HERE that:

A longtime domestic-policy entrepreneur, he founded his Center for Health Transformation in 2003. The group now includes big drug makers such as AstraZeneca PLC and top insurers, such as BlueCross BlueShield Association, who pay as much as $200,000 in membership fees. In return, they get access to Mr. Gingrich, interaction with other group members, and marketing and research support.

Then there are who object into buying the libs savaging of both men......

why we keep falling for their crap is beyond me..

There is no perfect candidate there are a few candidate who are saying they will do the right thing. Gingrich and Cain are 2 of them.

The proposals on Gingrich’s page are fine.

I’m backing Cain right now too. I don’t believe any of the crap they’ve been spewing, and I don’t care how many skanky-assed crack hos they trot out there to make unfounded accusations. Play time’s almost over, soon the voters will speak: that time of the cycle that the politicians fear and loathe the most.
