“The government consists of a gang of men exactly like you and me. They have, taking one with another, no special talent for the business of government; they have only a talent for getting and holding office. Their principal device to that end is to search out groups who pant and pine for something they can’t get and to promise to give it to them. Nine times out of ten that promise is worth nothing. The tenth time is made good by looting A to satisfy B. In other words, government is a broker in pillage, and every election is sort of an advance auction sale of stolen goods.”
H. L. Menchen

Just once I’d like to see conservatives actually stand on principle instead of flapping their gums about it only to throw themselves at the feet of the biggest insider in elections.
Research people, research.

So now what do all you Newt Fans that have been lamblasting away at people who call Newt an insider have to say?
You demand on Cain threads that critics instead make the case for their candidate. So if that is what you demand of others, uphold that standard for yourself.
Freddie Mac gives Newt Gingrich $1.6 million and all I got was a foreclosure notice.
Hypocrisy in this era is as common as noses. We are going to have to accept that both the voters and their candidates are flawed. The point is dealing with the hand dealt, given the moral condition of the nation.
As time goes by, Republicans are going to cut to the chase and coalesce around the ONE candidate, who can do TWO things with perfect political timing; 1) beat Romney, and, 2) compete evenly, or exceed Obama in polling numbers (and in all the right states) Now is not yet that time.
