Herman Cain thumbs nose at New Hampshire Union Leader
Politico ^ | November 17, 2011 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

POLITICO's Reid Epstein, on the ground in Manchester, N.H., reports:

Herman Cain's campaign stuck a finger in the eye of the most powerful conservative voice in New Hampshire on Thursday, blowing off a scheduled interview with the Union Leader newspaper. Continue Reading

Before Cain's no-show, the campaign had requested the 10 a.m. meeting, scheduled for 60 minutes, be shortened to 20 minutes. Cain also told the Union Leader it would not allow C-SPAN cameras to record the sit-down, as it had the paper's meetings with Mitt Romney, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum.

The Associated Press reported Cain's meeting with the paper was canceled before Union Leader editorial page editor Drew Cline was aware that the former pizza executive was not coming.

Messing with the Union Leader could have serious consequences for Cain in New Hampshire. The paper's endorsement is the state's biggest prize for Republicans and is seen as a conservative stamp of approval elsewhere in the country.

Romney has NH about as locked up as a candidate can. It won’t matter.

Smart move. Why waste time with someone who will end up endorsing Romney no matter what you do

Herman Cain thumbs nose at New Hampshire Union Leader

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No bias in that title. No sir.
But seriously. Why should Cain or any other conservative give a rats patoootie about New Jersey?
The Southern Primaries - THAT’s where Cain will kick butt. (If he lasts that long.)
Doubt it. This makes me like Herman Cain even more. He’s probably tired of all the stupid B.S. being tossed in his face.
This looks bad for Cain, but let’s face it. Mittens has that state sewed up so it really doesn’t matter what some Conservative paper has to say. The last thing NH is is anywhere near a Conservative state.
There are no “conservative” newspapers left in this country, none. And what is considered conservative in the NE is at best RINO in fly-over states.
Hmm wonder if all the Newtbots will now show up on this thread whining about “eating our own”?
Oh but that is right, that new standard only applies to stories critical of Newt, everyone else is fair game.
I don’t blame him. I heard the Libya gaffe played and replayed over national media. Any recorded misstep can be turned into a gaffe, when excised from it’s context as the Libya issue was.
By reading the article, Cain left them hanging. The reporters were tweeting jokes while they sat around waiting for him.
Cline mocked Cain on Twitter, asking: "If Cain is more than 30 minutes late for our interview, is the next one free?"
Pretty dumb all the way around for Cain.
It’s between Newt and Cain for the conservative vote.
Perry is buried and done. I like him, but it’s over.
NH is a sideshow that Mittens has locked up.
Disagree..Mitt’s just about a favorite son..yet he’s been stuck at 40%..he won’t win a majority...and more telling..as other GOP candidates have yo-yoed..Mitt has shown NO ability to peel off any of their support and attract it...Nationally, he’s stuck in the low 20’s..I predict that in NH..after he does really poorly in Iowa, his numbers will start to DROP...he may win..but just barely with a 35% MAX vote..
Cain is excoriated if he does, and excoriated if he doesn't.....what difference does it make???
Everyone....EVERYONE ....is piling on him now.
He's still pressing on.....bless his heart.
Big whoop-dee-doo. Candidates are always rearranging schedules and interviews. Politico, once again, is yelling “fire” when there isn’t even any smoke.
Cheers
