"That's meaning is they're trying to influence the Tea Party with negative vibes about Newt, and they've got some ammo. If we want to we can go back and get all the stories where Newt has done things which are not conservative. The couch deal with Pelosi, saying, "The era of Reagan is over." Newt was one of the early Republicans to say that, and he eventually retracted it."
What about the race in NY 22nd district? Newt pretty much threw the election by supporting the RINO, who eventually came out for the liberal democrat. If Newt's the nominee, I see a rough election ahead of us.
Seems that many people did not catch the somewhat subtle humor Rush was using today. Hmm.

It’s 2011. Reagan has been dead since 2004. I’d say the era of Reagan is over. In fact, I’d say the era of Reagan was over before the end of GHW Bush’s lone 4 year term.
But definitely at his death.
Is that hard to figure out????
“The era of Reagan is over” was a complaint about the election of Barack Obama, not a victory dance on Reagan’s grave. Have the integrity to put it in context, or don’t complain when someone does it to your candidate.
Unless you are to pretend Obama continued the era of Reagan, it was an accurate statement. The election of an unabashed Liberal President denoted a new era in the American electorate, one that did not exist when Liberals had to run as Conservatives to win squeaker elections.
It’s a new USA now, a different era, where Liberals start with 200 EVs and go from there; they used to have trouble winning two states if they weren’t successful hiding their Liberalism. Now they run openly as Liberals and win half of the elections.
Newt was Pro-Reagan when most of the candidates on stage wanted RR ousted. His declaration was a lamentation of the change in the American electorate, not a taunt.
