WASHINGTON—Many Republican voters are drawn to Herman Cain's forceful campaign style. But an examination of his comments and proposals raises questions about his grasp of issues he would face if elected president.

On a few occasions he has quickly corrected his statements. Other times he has laughed off his critics, telling people to have a sense of humor.

I’ll take Cain, gaffes and all, anytime over the Marxist trash in the White House now. Mr. Marxist Trash has committed plenty of gaffes and can’t talk without the TOTUS.

By all means, let's discard any candidate that state-controlled media makes fun of.

They have our best interests at heart, and we need to obey them.

In a widely distributed video interview, Cain fidgeted, stared at the ceiling and talked of having "all this stuff twirling around in my head."

Would have sounded more impressive if he had said "My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives."

Newt MAYBE for VP. He cannot be the top spot. Too liberal on Global Warming, marriage disasters, cheating with a girl while trying to get Bill Clinton out of the White House. Horrible candidate.

Apparently the interview was meant to be an informal Q & A for a print article. Cain was collecting his thoughts to give an accurate answer. This is another attempt to mischaricturize Herman Cain.

"It ain't gonna happen."

The trivialization of Cain is asinine. But what else should we expect from fickle conservatives?

He is not scripted like most politicians and that is marvelous!

The worst part of this incident, in my opinion, is not Cain's pauses, but rather when Cain started to answer: "I do not agree with the way he handled it for the following reason. No, that's a different one . . ." That did not come across as "not scripted" - it came across as Cain forgetting which scripted answer to use.

Whom among us is 100% ready to walk into the Oval Office as POTUS and hit the ground running? Even the slicksters like Romney will be greeted with events and circumstances that they didn't expect.

At least Cain has executive experience, successful executive experience, I might add. He knows how to hire people that know what he doesn't know.

Putting the slicksters in office hasn't done anything but get us exactly where we find ourselves today.

Congress has totally lost control of themselves and will do nothing to change the debt crisis unless and until there is someone in the White House that is willing to say STOP!

As of today, I'm still willing to give Cain a chance. He certainly couldn't do any worse. This far out, my opinion can change. I am open to find something that will save this country.

Cain understands the difference between liberty and tyranny...patriotism and treason. That’s enough for me.

Cains "grasp of issues" is the problem.....it's not that he isn't likeable or sincere, most can see that he is, it's the very basics seem to escape him and this the longer the campaign moves along the more evident this has become.

Further, he has "new" advisors who are, (as Cain would say " experts"), so the problem isn't that he's not being informed. It's he lacks the basic foundation of understanding what they are informing him of in order to bring together a picture based on the those foundations,(which by the way he has stated that is what he does best.) But you cannot do so without the basics to build on and understanding what you are being informed of.

From what I've seen we're observing a small portion of the huge "learning curve" Cain has to overcome..in action... and he's not doing well which is clearly being played out now.

It's a disappointment but he really just isn't ready for the Highest office in our land.

Like Rush said...regarding Cain's Libya answer....in the end, he got it right.

Is he a polished, career politician? No.

Does he have the wherewithall to surround himself with great advisors (he already has begun)? Yes.
