President Obama and Occupy Movement —

Time to Take Action

COMMENTARY | As many have predicted, the Occupy Movement has gotten out of hand. Crime in the “communities” is on the rise and eviction notices for the occupied areas are being ignored. Businesses around the occupied areas are struggling. It is past time for President Barack Obama to step in and figure out a way to stop the violence and dissidence.

When the Occupy Movement took roots in New York, we all believed the movement would last for a few days to a week or two at most. As the inspiration to speak out spread across the country, more cities were added and more people came out. As psychology would teach, the larger groups get, the more chances you have for irrational behavior and outright crime. Even though President Obama has essentially ignored the movement, I am sure that he has seen the increase in reports of sexual abuse, strikes against the police and the refusal to gather peacefully.

President Obama states he wants to help out small businesses, but he is turning a blind eye to the businesses that have to reduce staff or close their doors because nobody can get to their business because of the Occupy Movement. Like all leaders, the president tries to portray himself as someone that is strict on crime. The occupied areas are riddled with crime, but he does nothing.

The leader of the White House is known for making impressive speeches. Maybe it is time to get those speechwriters together to come up with an impassioned set of remarks that can point out how the Occupy Movement has defeated itself and become a danger to the stability of their neighborhoods. A reduction of numbers can become more manageable by local law enforcement.

The Obama Administration has proven that it would rather deal with foreign affairs by threatening sanctions. It might be time to make threats against the occupiers. The numbers are sure to reduce when the dissidents come to the realization that their movement has spiraled out of control and become a national issue.

It is time for the president to finally take a stand against the movement before their actions get worse. The president needs to say something before the National Guard is called out to evacuate the areas. President Obama needs to speak up, or would his friends at the now-defunct ACORN get upset?
