When I was a young Democrat, I was pro-life.
It’s really not good to make Reagan something he was not just to help your own candidate.
I don’t know Reagan any more than you do, but Mark Levin worked for him, and he’s the one who wrote this article:

He advocated a health exception (for the life of the mother) which, as he explained later, was exploited to include virtually anything. But he wasn’t pro-abortion. Giuliani and Romney were. I also like Bachmann and Santorum, and won’t completely give up on any candidate this early.
But I’m still researching all of the candidates, because we don’t know which of the candidates will remain when it’s tine for us to vote in the primaries.
Many Dems voted for Kerry, even though they didn’t like him, because they thought he would win. I just hope Republicans don’t make that same mistake, and will not be afraid to vote for a true conservative.
Yes, all of them make mistakes, but it’s up to us to decide which mistakes/flaws we will tolerate, and which we will not. Each person has to decide that for themself.

Also, Rick Santorum, when addressing Hillary Clinton on partial-birth infanticide, (paraphrasing) said that in Kansas around 172 unborn children were killed by partial-birth infanticide because of “mental health.”
There were no other reasons given for every unborn child killed that year except for “mental health.”

I think you convictions are good, and you should stick with them! I’m not as optimistic though.
I don’t like voting for Newt because of his “women” problem. It goes against my beliefs. I can only hope that he has repented and forshaken his ill behavior. On his not being a “consistent” conservative Republican....well I don’t think they really exist anymore...all (including myself) will stray from the “path” at times. I have concluded that is something I must accept.
I know. That one really hurts. Mr. Cain’s every flub now get endless repetitions. I can’t watch them anymore.
You're preachin' to the choir, Fluffy. Try to concentrate. I'm not talking about Reagan's reality, but what supporters of other candidates would be saying about him if he were in the race TODAY. You know... divorced ex-Democrat with spoiled, obnoxious, leftist children, signed abortion bill, called for open borders, wife a social-climber and a little crazy. Workers from opposing campaigns would flood the internet with hit pieces and claims he was a trojan horse and not a real conservative.
And my Mom knew him when he was a Democrat and she was a young actress and SAG board member during his last year as union president. She was probably the only Republican Christian in Hollywood and they became friends later when she was working on Death Valley Days and we did know him.

Even if you don’t feel optimistic, keep fighting anyway! And I’m sure you will. The good news is that now we have the Tea Party, and they replaced Dems with Republicans, and RINOs with conservative Republicans in 2010.

LOL, Fluffier than I, but I’ll tell you what’s fluffy. Being afraid to differentiate the candidates so we can decide in the PRIMARY time who is the most conservative, or at least, who matches our own personal values the most. “Fluffy” people actually think that if we don’t distinguish the candidates, including bring out their faults, the lib media won’t do it later. That, my dear, is living in a dream world.
At the end, hopefully we will pick a candidate that we can all support, even if it’s not our favorite candidate, but let’s not fear sunlight!
Mark Levin knew, and worked for Reagan, and knew him politically, and it’s downright annoying seeing people claim Reagan was pro-abortion, when he was not, just to help their own candidate(s).
I hope the Tea Party keeps replacing DEMS & RINOs in 2012.
