A high school football coach in Wyoming has resigned after orchestrating what may be the single least appropriate motivational tactic in recent years, handing his players a "Hurt Feelings Report" in which students were asked to select from various offensive options to describe why they were upset.
As first reported by the Buffalo Bulletin, Casper Star-Tribune and The Advocate before being circulated throughout the internet, Buffalo (Wyo.) High football coach Pat Lynch offered up a questionnaire to his players that offered the following possible reasons for their disappointment, as reported by The Advocate (beware in reading the following paragraph: Some of the choices are pretty abhorrent):
The survey, under a list of reasons for hurt feelings, includes such choices as "I am a queer," "I am a little bitch," and "I have woman like hormones." It asks for the name of the "little sissy filing report" and his "girly-man signature," plus the "real-man signature" of the person accused of causing hurt feelings.
You can see a full copy of the survey here.

When I was in school I had a basketball coach who would say all that and more as he turned six shades of purple before firing his whistle through a plate glass window.
We all thought that just went with the territory of being a coach.

"Naturally, the gay rights lobby is unforgiving. Equality For All sent a letter to the Casper Star-Tribune demanding Lynch's FULL resignation, meaning being stripped of employment altogether. They claim Lynch's apology isn't good enough.
And the Casper Star-Tribune is also editorially calling for the complete termination of Pat Lynch. They question whether any students who have been bullied or harassed due to their sexual orientation can now possibly look to Lynch for help or guidance on any subject. They claim that if Lynch is allowed to keep his job, it implicitly shows that the district doesnt take such discrimination seriously.
The lack of forgiveness shown by the gay rights group, the Star-Tribune, and many commenters to the various Wyoming media stories is appalling. If this is truly representative of local Wyoming opinion on this issue, this country is in grave trouble, because it means political correctness has now infested the very heartland itself. This was clearly no more than an attempt by Lynch to weld the team closer together through humor. If we protect and cocoon students against all adversity now while under controlled and supervised conditions, how does that effectively prepare them for dealing with adversity when they become on their own as adults, away from the protective embrace of parents and other mentors? "

Do not protect either side, make rules follow them. His job was to coach, teaching the game of football and that is it, morality is the parents job.

It's not morality. It's teamwork and personal responsibility.
He should'a used the "military" one, or better yet made his own along similar lines.

Wrong, wrong, a thousand times wrong. THE most important part of any coach’s job is to make sure the players become functioning adults, able to stand on their own two feet. Winning is secondary to developing men and women.
I coached ice hockey for 30 years. I ws not a winning coach, mostly because I volunteered for the B level teams. But, the letters from players and parents thanking me are worth more than any win. I remember one player who refused to move up to an A team just so he could play on my team.

Indeed.
In fact some of the best life lessons used to come from our Coaches.
Guess that is verboten now.
Surprising that such would be an issue for a Conservative...
It was the way things used to be before the lefties got a hold of things.

Exactly.
Coach the team, develop the players as players.
Save your philosophical nuances for the teachers’ lounge.

Wrong, I understand, it is impossible to pick each person myself, so you have guide lines. It is the only way to try and limit corruption. Do your job, not a hard concept to follow.

I don’t understand people who get fired then apologize. If I lost my job I’ll be damned if I’d apologize. In fact, my position would be “If you let me keep my job, I’ll apologize. If not, then I double down on what I said.”
