Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Sunday that he was looking at exporting more oil to China after the United States delayed a decision on a controversial pipeline.
President Barack Obama's administration last week put off a decision on Keystone XL project after a major protest campaign by environmentalists, who say the pipeline would be prone to accidents and worsen climate change.
The conservative Canadian leader, taking part in a summit in Hawaii hosted by Obama said the pipeline decision had produced "extremely negative reactions" and that he discussed oil exports with Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Way to go, Obama. Your butt-kissing of the eco-freaks jeopardizes America’s energy future.

Not entirely clear about your point, but you seem to be mystified by the notion that a seller looks to sell.

The environuts must be happy that a crap ton of fuel is used to ship the oil half way around the globe. Worked out great for them.

The State Department delayed a final decision until 2013, after next year's presidential election. The Marxist bastard in the WH should be impeached for this. He's clearly worried about ticking off the enviro-nuts if he approves it and the unions if he doesn't and losing that voter base.
He doesn't have the good of the nation at heart, it's strictly about him being reelected.

The GOP should be putting out ads on this and pounding the Loser-in-Chief. Instead of getting oil from a trusted friend, we’ll have to keep buying it from Saudi Arabia and other countries that hate us. This should be a major campaign issue.

You can’t blame Canada for moving forward.
Just because the government of the US wants to play politics on this stuff, doesn’t mean that Canada should also wait.

He is not going to move ahead with jack, the whole ideal is to get the good old usa to pay the cost. If they build west, cost would be out of the Canadian pocket. Oil is a world commodity, they can either put it on the market are they cannot. It is simple as that where they sell it has no impact.

The tar sands oil will move in rail tank cars before a pipe to the Pacific is built. If the Canadians are smart, they’ll await the coming change in our government.
To: org.whodat
China would be willing to pay for the cost or the oil companies might, if they have to, build the refineries in Western Canada and then ship it, wherever.
Their first china might be to pipline raw crude stateside to refine, but they aren’t going to wait forever.
The world needs the Oil sands enough that it will be developed, with or without the US involvement.

Nonsense. There is a domestic need for oil delivery to the pacific from the tar sands. I’m very much in favor of Canada doing both projects.
Sad the Americans aren’t willing to jump in but that’s Obozo’s fault. You want cheaper gas, get rid of Obozo and the oil and gas will flow south.

Very good.
I took your comment as if you were calling Stephen Harper’s bluff. That it was a bargaining chip of some sort.
