Moments after being introduced by Face the Nation host Bob Schiiffer as a "conservative" columnist, the Washington Post's Kathleen Parker on Sunday referred to Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich as a "misanthrope" - aka a mankind hater (video follows with transcript and commentary):
BOB SCHIEFFER, HOST: And we're back now with our panel. Kathleen Parker, of course, a columnist for the Washington Post who writes kind of from the conservative side, I would say. Dee Dee Myers, President Clinton's press secretary, National Journal's Major Garrett who moderated the debate last night along with our own Scott Pelley. And our CBS News political director just named to that post yesterday John Dickerson. John, congratulations.
Despite the absurdity of calling Parker a conservative - she last year admitted that she won the Pulitzer Prize for being a conservative basher - wasn't it fascinating how the political leaning of none of the other panelists - accurate or not! - was identified?
Such is typically the case on these Sunday shows.
Funnier still, when the subject of Gingrich arose, Parker took a swipe that was anything but conservative:
BOB SCHIEFFER: Kathleen, do you see Gingrich now being the alternative to Romney, various ones that have been put in that position and have risen and then fallen. Where-- where do you see Gingrich now?KATHLEEN PARKER: Well, he's-- he's certainly the flavor of the week. And-- and Newt Gingrich does very, very well in debates. You know, he's not really much of a campaigner. In fact, he's been described as sort of a misanthrope. That would be sort of interesting wouldn't it to have a misanthropic President.
For those unfamiliar with the term, a misanthrope is someone that hates mankind.
And that's the so-called conservative columnist CBS News brought on to discuss the Republican presidential race.
Might as well have an Obama adviser there instead.
At least then the viewer would know where her sympathies truly lied.
Parker is about as conservative as Morning Joe is,they both worked for left wing organizations as well.
That’s what I’m thinking: that she’s secretly working for Newt. Or else just not that sharp. This is the cycle in which conservatives are sick and tired of MSM attacks on their candidates. Witness Cain, and the backfire of the smears. If Parker wanted to fire up Newt’s base and evoke empathy from his conservative non-base, she hit a homer.
NEWT: Hates Mankind, loves “Princess Nancy”. Two time loser!
BOB SCHIEFFER obviously doesn’t know what a conservative is if he thinks Parker is a conservative.
The universal panning of the sorry CBS “debate” should have made everyone connected with it ashamed, but they are clueless.
Parker is a conservative? Since when? She’s just another leftist. So where does that put Schieffer?
I’m sure that Newt is really going to lose sleep after hearing what Kathleen Parker had to say about him.
CBS is just smarting after their new ‘star’ Scott ‘Smug’ Pelley got upbraided by Newt, kinda like a kid whose only boxing experience was with ‘Rock Em Sock Em Robots’ decides they can take on the likes of George Foreman in his prime.
Say Smuggy? That’s gonna leave a mark, lol
the show - if you can stand watching these people -
Parker may have it right on one hand - but it’s not ALL mankind he’s doesn’t like - just her ilk...and, of course, she would think that’s All Mankind...

She’s very strange.

did you forget the 'sarq' or are you carrying water for the media?
Or do you not know that that Tiffany crap was just that?
Either way, it's careless to repeat accusations without proof - going on just what the media says. Of all people, it would be nice to see FREEPERS not swallow the media smears as true.
The Hype: ""He was in debt up to $500,000 at Tiffany's - from buying Calista expensive jewels!"
The truth: He had an account at Tiffanys and like many big stores, they advance a LOC - Line of Credit. It wasn't OWED money, nor purchase of expensive jewels. It was not due to his being recklessly in debt - but having SUPER credit!
A lot of us of are given a LOC which our banks extend - mine, for example, is $500. (I don't have an income like Newt! ahahaha). I didn't ask for it, they just informed me of it. I don't' OWE them it, it's just available should I want to use it or accidentally make a purchase that goes over my balance.
The Tiffany story is just ONE of the totally twisted, untrue stories that people parrot as part of his "baggage."
Good Golly! That's about as rubber banded as it can get.
Amazing...
He knows she isn't. He's just hoping we won't notice...
I’m sorry my post (evidently) went over your head. Should I have typed more slowly, and used simpler terms?
Any credibility she may have once had has been gone a long, long time.
LOL! ParkER
I think you have insulted RHINOs. There is nothing Conservative or Republican about that woman. I do not read her columns or pay attention to what she says. She is a Democrat’s Democrat. I’d rather listen to someone scratching his or her nails on a blackboard than listen to her.
No smoke. No fire. Go in peace.
