f there was a loser on the debate stage tonight, it was CBS. First, they scheduled their debate on a Saturday night between two major football games. Then they decide to only broadcast the first hour of their 90-minute debate. Then their Internet feed failed for the final 30 minutes. This was CBSs first and only debate and it showed.
Scott Pelley was a terrible moderator. He treated the men who might be the next commander in chief like schoolchildren, cutting them off in mid-sentence, lecturing them to answer his questions. He even lectured Newt Gingrich on policy, telling him that killing terrorist suspects is not the rule of law. Big mistake. Newt smacked him down, explaining that we are at war and in war we are allowed to kill the enemy without a court order.

Balony! we know fully well of his past..and that was then and at that time...Newt has either explained or asked forgiveness, or set the record straight. His misteps do not out weigh his vast abilities and desire for our country..and the great accomplishments which occured under his watch.
That is my ticket in either order. Newt/Cain or Cain/Newt
The big loser is still the American voter. CBS is getting what it wants.
Interesting comments on the Americans serving in the SS during WW2. A close friend and now deceased WW2 grunt related the following to me:
Desperate for work after finishing the 11th grade, in the summer of 41 he found himself working for a farmer in ND that was a recent immigrant from Germany. He had several sons-two of which had returned to Germany the previous year(unstated was why.) The farm was short of labor and thus hired my friend and allowed him to bunk in an old coop (tough in winter). The farmer spoke only German and my friend learned to speak it in the year he was there. He ultimately got drafted, fought through Europe, and was one of the first Americans in Dachau. He ended up with the Camp Commandants sword.
So now I am curious just how many Americans fought for the enemy;it seems to have been more than a few.
I’m with you, they lost me when they were the only network to back the Warren Commission.....showing my age....
best post of the day....
Yeah !
Pelly sucks, why did Garrett hardly do anything? Newt/Cain/Perry seemed the only real hopes.
How do we get rid of Paul/Huntsman/Bachmann/Santorum??????
I think there absolutely is. Nobody expects him to become the next Newt Gingrich; all he has to do is prepare to the extent that he can push his candidacy through the last lap.
Why does he seldom bring up his work for the Navy, for instance? The man was, legitimately, a “rocket scientist!” I know from hearing him on Savage’s show that he does have some very intelligent things to say about our military as a result of that experience, so why won’t it come out during a debate?
Even a handful of relevant historical examples would do a lot to add some weight to otherwise-generic answers.
But we should also consider that it may not come down to policy wonks like us. Herman’s message is simple, it is direct, and it is easily understood by most people, even if it’s not as substantial as you and I might like. Appeal to the masses could be all that he needs to stay atop the polls.
I think it is a winning ticket. They balance each other out so well. One a Northern conservative; the other a Southern conservative. One an experienced Congressman and Speaker of the House; the other a successful businessman. One an intellectual speaker, well-versed in History; the other a down-to-earth Everyman whose speeches are always uplifting and relate to the common man.
C’mon, GOP, you’ve got your winners right here!
