I’m an 80s metalhead...a time when the men looked hotter than the women! and we were secure enough in our manhood to wear spandex! ;)
In the last 2 years I have come to appreciate all sorts of music I never listened to in my 46 years...Trance/Goa, EDM in general and lately I am discovering the sheer wonder of Baroque/classical. Still a real noob there in need of guidance, but I’m liking anything with a harpsichord and Wagner type pieces.
May I suggest Mozart? His music is brilliant. I use Mozart to teach the principles of Composition. Every Melody has a “hook”, like the best crafted jazz melodies that one can’t forget.
Eine Kleine Nachmusik, His piano Sonatas, and The Magic Flute are terrific.
If you are coming from a Heavy metal background, I suggest the Russians. Moussorgsky, Borodin, and Rimsky-Korsakov will knock your socks off!
FReep me for more suggestions if you like.
Publius would be a great mentor for, as is left that other site.
