A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.
This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.
Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

Same here. And for the record, I lost respect for Paterno for comments he made after losing the 1979 Sugar Bowl (the goal line defense game). All these years, I would cringe every time I heard anyone say what a great guy he was.
Too bad the fans of the opposing team didn’t drop pants and MOON the Penn St crowd. THAT they would understand!
The team could also have refused to BEND OVER while the P STATE team was on the field. Dangerous that!
Gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘butt heads’. How about signs, in protest, of bare butts with a Penn State hat on top?
I have to admit, this whole sick scenario makes me look at the butts-in-the-air part of football a WHOLE new way!
Except for the fact - If it had been reported to the REAL police, child protective services would have found who the boy was and charges would have been made against Sandusky. School police are not the city police anywhere. They should have told the city police but they did not.
Hey; what's more important. Young kids who were abused; or a football coaches Wikipedia legacy?
I am even more convinced how wrong it is to have people stay in positions of power for a long time.
I think that is part of the problem here. Joe is a machine over there, and he is worshiped (always wrong). His son is one of the coaches; another Paterno is one of the radio guys I think.
This kind of inbreeding concentration of power, leads to corruption and abuse of power in many cases.
Just like I make it a point not to watch a Roman Polanski movie.
This is the point everyone is missing. If that had been a little girl that McQueary had caught Sandusky raping, would he have walked away? Would we have even FReepers defending McQueary with he may have thought it was consentual? I seriously doubt it. Would the media being omitting details about what was really going on? What McQueary and others had witnessed?
Check out this interview with Jon Ritchie for insight into the psychology of boy rape and the males around it.
Do you understand why many people feel that the game [and the rest of the season] should have been cancelled?
Oh, I beg to differ.
They should be ashamed for their coaches, their team, their school.
Great comment on the ethics of Penn State.
LOL !;-)
Spot on.
Same way it ruins watching "ALF" and "Ferris Beuller's Day Off."
(had to laugh at that! )
Oh, well the WSJ did not mention that he went to anyone but the AD...
I think he could have done a lot more, he knows he should have done a lot more. Geez, these were nearly 20 years of 10 year old boys?!
Count me one of your uninformed FR idiots, but I really really have a problem with the way he is being defended. Clearly there was a very slow path to action at best. How lives have been screwed up due to this scandal?
I understand. I’m so sorry.
They must be in their twenties and thirties now. I shudder to think of how they are coping. Are they healthy heterosexual men? Or are they bitter sad lost people, unsure of their sexuality, and maybe abusers themselves? This is what happens when generations of people are abused. What intervention is available for these men?
Yes. I will not watch a whole bunch of movies, and that creep tops the list.
Aw shucks, I feel so left out. I guess they didn't see my post where I said every building on campus should be burned to the ground and then the whole area bulldozed over so that there is no trace that a University ever existed on that site.
Forgive me if I am being naiive, but didn’t JoePA report this to university officials?
He wasn’t a witness so what more could/should he have done?
This is not sarcasm, I just want to know if I am missing something.
