Nebraska 17, Penn State 14; Crowd Chants "We love JoePa."
The New York Times ^ | November 12th, 2011

A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.

This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.

Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

Good game, Nebraska. All of your fans were classy and understanding of the situation.

We are Penn State.

Officials at Penn State created an environment that ENCOURAGED perversion, and that no sex was wrong.

It was the stated goal of President Spanier to become the most Gay-Friendly Campus in America, and Penn St. had the first All-GAY fraternity in America. (I’ll bet they have an interesting Hell Week)

With Adminstration-sponsored events like “QueerFest”, or the ‘Become a Lesbian for a day’ “C##tFest”, they CREATED an atmosphere where the perversions of a sicko like Sandusky found not only a home, but acceptence, and a staff willing to cover it up, for the sake of the MONEY the Football Program dragged in.

Penn State FIRED it’s 27 yr National Championship winning Women’s basketball coach, Rene Portland,in 2006, for telling a parent she would not tolerate Homosexuality on her team, claiming she created a “Hostile, discriminitive environment”

When people ask HOW something like this could have happened, and how it could be covered up so readily by the administration of the University, show them this.

In this kind of an atmosphere, can you hardly be surprised that sexual abuse of children would go on?

I agree. Wonder if Sandusky will rape any little boys while he is out on bail.

I didn’t see the game, but that’s a big plus. We cannot blame the entire student body for the actions of a few.

The argument that the campus was open to this based on thier pro-homosexual stance may or may not be borne out. Given the hyper-sexualized students across American campuses it would appear that the sexual revolution has had its intended effect.

I'm going to throw up. Paterno sent a letter to be read to the team before the game. Disgusting. And on ABC, Jay Paterno is interviewed in tears saying, "We love you dad!"

Penn State just doesn't get it. Burn it down.

I’m sure Mr. Spanier is wishing with every fiber of his being that he’d STAYED in Lincoln instead.

You know, Halls, I wish it were that simple. It is an institutional sickness—aka Alma Mater—that brought this on. I very much appreciate your words. Be sure of that.
But it is what it is.

I enjoyed four wonderful years at Penn State. It’s moral values paralleled those I grew up with—first in a Phildelphia row home then in an orphanage. I learned to really enjoy the attainment of knowledge there. I met my wonderful wife there. Always was sommewhat saddened when my children chose other universities. Today, I’m thankful.

But my unhappiness and anger pales against what Penn State allowed to happen to those children.

It’s kind of funny actually, how freepers are so against Penn State and its fans.

Of anyone, I thought freepers would be supportive of students lashing out at their pervert administrators and the media scum.

If you want to to subsume your identity with a degenerate organization that is PSU football then by all means feel free to do so. The rest of us moved on from our college days YEARS ago and are better for it. For one thing we’re not disillusioned over a cult god’s exposed criminality.

He was out yesterday (in Penn State gear, no less) shopping at Dick's Sporting Goods.

If that's not an "in your face" moment, I don't know what is.

Right, the school is the victim here. [sarcasm tag not necessary]

I’d like to think Tom Osborne would not have looked the other way if this happened in Nebraska. Go Big Red!

Penn State and its fans haven't shown an iota of class during this. The interim president finishing his remarks today with "We are Penn State!" proves it. So does the fact that had PSU won, the game ball was going to Paterno.

Burn it to the ground.

Actually, the players didn’t protect anyone. You should be ashamed for insinuating they did.

No, Penn State gets it.

They realize that the perverts were in the administration, and they wanted them ran out of town.

All the riots and protests reflect the consensus here: Spanier, Curley, Schultz, and Sandusky are perverts. JoePa may or may not be guilty, but he is the scapegoat of the perverts and media whores. Believe it or not, Paterno wasn’t universally loved lately. People think he has been holding on too long and he is a cranky old man who practices nepotism etc. But since being fired by the pervs due to media pressure, his popularity has really shot up, because he is seen as the victim of those assholes.

Hence these JoePa chants aren’t just in support of him; they’re to spite the administration, the media, and the world.

Incredible. I didn't know this. It most certainly must have factored into the environment that tolerated and let Sandusky's actions continue.
