“FR is nothing like a cult...”
You make my point. I say that the LDS Church is nothing like a cult but just saying that gets me on the hot seat. One cannot even have an opinion around here unless it conforms and their are consequences for not towing the line. There’s money involved and intimidation tactics. One could make the case.
No; it shows how IGNORANT you are.
If one does NOT toe the MORMON line; one does NOT go to the HIGHEST level of MORMON heaven.
(Maybe you are still a milk drinking MORMON.)

Money involved.......hahah when FR starts pulling in one billion a year, then get back to me.
But Mormonism is exactly like a false cult
It teaches that it is a new thing,
that all that came before it are false,
that the singular leader within the group can pronounce things straight from God,
that those who disagree with that leader are outside of revelation and worthy of disdain,
that those who leave the group are to be shunned or avoided and easily spoken ill of,
that all those who question the authority of the group are from Satan,
That those who defy the authority of the group are from Satan
I once attended a church like that in Connecticut for many years. I would send you to their website for Bible studies, but I would insist you NEVER go there!
A case could be made, lawyer, that you're all just plain nuts....and that goes for Romney too.
Dear Sandra:
It’s not so much a cult as it is a heresy and is no more valid as an authentic religious belief than is Buddhism, Hinduism, or Islam. To the extent it is a civil belief making for good citizens it is no different from Quakers, or Mennonites, or good-citizen atheists.
I suggest a starting point for analytical insight is the book “Heresies” by Hilary Belloc, a renowned English author and essayist. That is if you have an inquiring mind.
