Fall and Fall of Mr. Perry
John Batchelor Show ^ | November 11,2011 | John Batchelor

Posted on 11/12/2011 5:54:15 AM PST by Hojczyk

The brouhaha of Rick Perry's minor and uncritical lapse in the Michigan debate is not the end of Rick Perry's campaign for the nomination.

The Perry campaign has the money and the talent it can lease to continue into January and February with the organization and ads in the primary states to score well.

The noise about the debate error in Michigan is mostly about the registration of group disappointment by the GOP conservative base that Rick Perry is not working as the anti-Romney.

Rick Perry is mortal and has much to learn about national campaigning. Training on the job is most difficult when you must compete immediately at the same time in a zero sum game with a veteran who aims for the same goal as you do.

Therefore, Rick Perry the perfect Stop Romney has failed, and is now replaced by Rick Perry the Newbie, who has not failed and cannot fail.

The fall of Rick Perry is another consideration. The governor fell from grace the moment he stepped on the field in Iowa and projected confidence and certainty that he could not back up on the debate stage.

The second fall of Rick Perry started when he did not have answers to the question no one can answer: where are the jobs? No one can answer this puzzle, and it was Perry's miscalculation to permit the GOP to imagine that the man from Texas could answer.

Could Rick Perry reawaken his march on the nomination? Sure. How? Unknown, which is why we hold primary elections on a certain date at a certain place --

anything is possible at that moment, including an (improbable) Romney fall, too.

Romney fell from grace the moment people learned of his intentions to push amnesty through while claiming it wasn’t amnesty (just letting illegals come and go freely).

He fell from grace with a large part of the Texas base some time ago, but now as knowledge of Perry spreads across the country, so too does his fall from grace spread across the country.

Reading and listening about Rick Perry’s ability to make one more try is getting tiresome. It would be better for all if Rick Perry went home so he could be world-famous in Texas, and use the left-over campaign cash to help send his favorite illegal aliens to college.

There is no “puzzle” about it.

It is all about Perry’s policies on being kind, forgiving, and generous, to illegal criminal alien invaders.

Perry fails on the issue of immigration and the wall to protect our border.

Perry’s championing of ILLEGAL INVADERS over American Citizens, the gardisil issue, along with the deaths of those girls who were given that “required” vaccine, which they are now pushing on BOYS, will forever haunt him, as will his in state tuition for ILLEGAL INVADERS, well I have news for Perry, all colleges and K-12 accept federal dollars, than means I in TN, and you in the other 48 states are having to pay for his ILLEGALS to be educated.

Along with paying for the K-12 illegals invaders in our own states.

The news did a story on this, and somehow the only politicians who lose their train of thought were Republicans.

Weird, isn’t it?

” And the result of this trashing of decent conservative candidates will be mitt, and then the re election of obummer. “ <<<<

Perry has failed and Cain has peaked. I couldn’t agree with you more that Romney is the result, unless the two camps come together behind Newt and pray.

I am not sure the Perry supporters were ever so visceral against Cain, as were the Cain supporters against Perry and his supporters. Of course, with no political record in sight and three years at the top of the NRA, before leaving the board room for the padded room to do radio, Cain was greatly advantaged by having no record whatsoever.

Is this the era for community orgainizers and motivational speakers or what? Now, Cain says he would serve as Sec. of Defense for Romney! LOL! How really motivational is that?
Cain has been engaged in promoting Romney since the beginning. He doesn’t have any intention of becoming president. I would quit beating up on the Perry supporters, because there is no, absolutely *no* pay off for continuing to do so.

Let me say first that I am a Cain supporter.

But watching his last night’s repeat appearance on Jimmy Kimmel had me cringing a couple of times.
The topic was almost exclusively about the “firestorm”.

Despite Kimmel’s baiting, wouldn’t Cain have been better off to skip over, ie dismiss the topic and talk about the positive changes he will bring to the executive office?
As the accusers seem to be fading into oblivion this week(thankfully), it seems like the strong defense of his character might have been overkill.

Also, there were too many sexual references during the interview. He did handle the question from Kimmel about whether he would like to redo the words “get off” by smiling and moving on. But at the end, Cain suggested that Jimmy might want his pizza “larger and wider” to snickers from the audience, prompting the host to end with “Now you’re going to get yourself in trouble again.” Maybe it was an innocent statement that was jumped on by the quick witted Kimmel.

It would have been funny if our candidate were not seeking the nomination or recovering from a media campaign to knock him out of the running.
But because he is now being closely scrutinized by a quisitive public, shouldn’t he stay away from comments like this, even if he meant them jokingly?

There have been too many times when I find myself sitting on the edge of seat in anticipation of hearing a “stumble”.
Inexperience? Sure, but how ‘bout his handlers turning to professionals who can help?

His team needs to improve on coming up with rapid responses and clear messages. And someone like Frank Luntz would be a great resource for minimizing the “What I meant to say was”...moments.

Last night, Cain said that the motto of his team is “Let Cain be Cain and Mark Block be Mark Block”. Hmmm.

the only ‘knowledge’ of Rick Perry is that he is less than great at these debates.

He probably should have skipped them all. I remember the famous moment when Fred Thompson stood up to the moderators and refused to raise his hand like a school child.

Some people handle this type of forum very well (see Newt). Some in an adequate manner and others poorly.

However, it’s a gosh darn shame that the best and most qualified candidate is being destroyed for this and other reasons.
