They are the lucky babies whose friends and families will never forget their birthday.

Each was born as the calendar turned to 11.11.11 - which only happens once every 100 years.

Layker Poppy Pamela Funnell was born in Wishaw Hospital, Lanarkshire, to delighted new parents Paul and Siobhan Morrison - who by an incredible coincidence also celebrated her birthday today.

It was a thrilling moment for children turning 11 too, as well as the hordes of couples who decided to make this unique date even more special by choosing it for their wedding day.

Bristol twins Ben and Lucie Hulin and their friend Jack Winbow were all born in the same hospital 11 years ago today.

They realised the remarkable coincidence when they all joined the same school and have since become 'really, really good friends', even co-ordinating their parties today so they can attend each others'.

Niamh Ashton, from Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, has an even closer association with the number 11 - she turned 11 at exactly 11 o'clock - entering the world during the two-minute silence on Armistice Day in 2000.

“Layker Poppy Pamela Funnell was born in Wishaw Hospital, Lanarkshire...”

She may have been lucky to get that birthday, but her extremely unfortunate name goes to prove that things always even out in the end.
