Mike McQueary, the assistant Nittany Lions coach who told a grand jury that in 2002 he saw former coach Jerry Sandusky sexually assault a young boy, has been placed on administrative leave. The move was announced by Penn State Interim President Rod Erickson at a news conference that began at 4 p.m.

Read. He himself could have easily been the weapon, the shower walls a weapon, or anything that he may have taken in with him...even a wrapped towel.
And you just said yourself...”probably”...talk his way out
Go call someone elses “speculations” ridiculous.
Of course I said “probably”, because I was speculating, not pronouncing my speculations as indisputable fact, unlike the way you presented your posts.
We have no reasonable way of knowing that Sandusky would have acted in the manner you describe, if McQueary had acted differently. What we do know is what happened because McQueary acted the way he did. The rapist eluded justice, and now we have no idea what ultimately happened to that particular victim.
For all we know, Sandusky could have killed the boy after being seen with him, just to eliminate a witness. Unless the victim is located, we can’t even say that McQueary not confronting Sandusky prevented him from killing the child, so you can’t even fairly speculate that McQueary’s actions prevented that.
I should have linked you back to #286 - it would appear that if PSU wins the Big Ten outright then they have to get an invitation to the Rose Bowl. If they finish at 11-2 then they could be skipped if 4 other Big Ten Teams, apart from the conference winner, are at 9-3 or better (which appears likely). If PSU loses any remaining games then their chances are reduced accordingly.
Maybe the bowl contracts have an escape clause...the stories didn’t mention that though.
I grew up in Pa., not necessarily a fan of Paterno but not disliking him either. But the events of the past week have caused me to lose respect for him completely.
Someone posted a selection from the NCAA bylaws. The NCAA would be within its rights to give PSU the death penalty - but it doesn’t appear they will suffer any NCAA sanctions...certainly not before the season’s out, if at all.
Don’t follow your logic. The DA putting pressure on McCreary has nothing to do with getting kids who may have been abused to come forward. Afterall, there is strength in numbers. Hell, there are already something like 8 kids we know about. Remember, too, these are kids from dydfunctional families. Won’t be hard for lawyer scum to sign up kids to come “forward” who were not abused if a mom, dad or guardian thinks there may be money in it for them.
Penn State is in deep, deep doodoo here. All because of the choices it’s made over the years. In the late sixties it went hard left politically. Marxism was injected to every curriculum—including the sciences.
Succeeding school presidents have supported that decision. Choosing Spanier, a sociologist for president has been a disaster. He’s probably gay or a switch hitter. He vowed to make PSU the most gay and lesbian friendly university in the country. This included the opening of the first gay fraternity at Penn State. He’s the guy that instituted the “Tent of Consent” at Penn State. Guess what that’s all about? And he’s the guy who brought the Spring Cuntfest (no misspelling) to Penn State. He’s also the guy that embraced the Climate Change (aka global warming) fraud. The “science” of two Penn State profs who’ve led that charge has been proven to be wrong or outright fraudulent. They have not been sanctioned by the university.
And under Spanier’s tenure a professor felt comfortable enough to float a memo saying military vets should be marginalized because they were disreuptive. Trasnslation: They challenge the school’s Marxist agenda. Unfortunately for Penn State the memo got into the public domain.
McCreary’s best bet is to be a cooperating prosecution witnesss. He committed a moral and legal crime. If he does the right thing now he may be able to atone somewhat for his bad behavior. That may earn him some consideration with a judge. God is another matter.
Even then the pc cancer was beginning to metastise.
One of my fondest memories was being at the top of the steps of Old Main when JoePa introduced GHW Bush prior to his speech, and getting to meet them both.
Your sentiments in light of this disgusting, sordid affair are quite understandable.
The trauma to the victim boys aside for a moment, just think of the truly incredible amount of emotional turmoil and pain that's been caused by one deviant, loathsome homo predator !
Of all the places something like this could have happened, I would never in a zillion years have imagined it would happen at PSU under Joe's watch.
:-(
[Is it possible that you — NRG1973, Hellbender, TomB, and Two-Sheds — can understand that? And I’m not exactly young (I, coincidentally, have a 10-year-old grandson).]
Why are you asking me this question? I have been arguing with others that McQ should have rescued the boy immediately and that McQ was a coward!
Nevermind, you didn’t group me in as one of McQ’s defenders.
Except that filing the suit says that Cain is willing to fight back against the smears and strengthens his position.
Then he might not have gotten that cherished WR coaching job?
At last! A response! Thanks!
The question posed to those who defend the moral cowardice of running away when a 10-year-old boy is being brutally raped in front of their eyes: So what would you do? Be honest. If you witness firsthand a child being raped and you initially -- from shock -- backed out of the room, would you return within a minute or two to rescue the child and put an end to the attack of a monster?
Those that were point blank asked this question:
NRG1973: No response. Still.
Hellbender: No response. Still.
TomB: No response. Still.
Two_Sheds: Would take action. Would watch the child be raped. Would back out of the room. Would think about what he just saw. Would return home. Would turn on his computer and log onto Free Republic. Would advise FReeper Flycatcher to switch to decaf.
Your response has been duly logged.
Thanks again!
I condemn McQueary’s father too. Together, they decided to pass the buck and ignore the police and the felony after the presumably talking about it for hours. The football coaching career came first! The raped boy second.
I wonder how father and son McQueary could look into the mirror -- much less at each other -- after abandoning a young child to a homosexual rapist.
That boy had a father too.
The McQuearys fail as human beings.
Yo Tomkat—
College football is a big business. I only really understood how big when I toured Beaver Stadium in 2010. To be a top tier football power you’ve got to be able to negotiate the recruiting sewer. Paterno may have been one of the most ethical coaches, but the operative word is “most. I don’t doubt for a second there have recruiting violations at Penn State. But Paterno, and no doubt some alumni, have been very successful at not getting caught. It was a PR masterstroke when Joe turned himself for a minor preseason coaching infraction at the beginning of this season.
Paterno and the University have packaged Paterno well. For me, the dawn came on Paterno when I found out Sandusky was permitted unfettered access to Penn State facilities after Paterno and the University knew of Sandusky’s perversion.
I’m asking myself some really disgusting questions right now. Any moral institution would have dropped Sandusky like a hot potato immediately upon credible suspicion. As far as I can tell that was about 1998. Yet Sandusky continued to have access. Why? What else is yet to be discovered here?
What do we know? Spanier is an outspoken gay and lesbian supporter. His academic discipline is sociology. On the face of it I find that an odd choice for a university president in and of itself. Usually college presidents are people who had successful academic and business careers or they come from the humanities ranks.
We know Spanier enabled the first gay fraternity at Penn State. We know that he allowed a campus women’s group to erect a “Tent of Consent”. Ostensibly students were encouraged to go behind a screen and explore each other for two minutes. Very classy and who was watching the clock? We know Spanier also allowed this group to hold a “Cuntfest”. Very classy. The stated purpose was to empower women. Ahem.
So Spanier is the Board of Trustee choice for president. And he’s the guy the Board supports while he’s knowingly and deliberately attacking American morality.
Here’s a what if with regard to the serial predator Sandusky and Penn State: What if he’s allowed access because he serves another or other adult male(s) need for sex with little boys? In other words he’s passing the boys around. I can think of no other logical explanation.
So by reporting Sandusky he was able to secure a coaching job. And by NOT reporting him he would NOT have gotten the job.
Huh?

"Duly logged"?!
ROTFLMAO, what are you doing, inscibing it into your flesh? Writing it in blood in a register?
For God's sake get over yourself, you're raving.
As an aside, how do you read with all that spittle on your monitor?
It's easy.
Just like you walking away from a child getting raped.
I'm OUTRAGED!!!
Consider yourself "duly logged".
Yes, your understanding my response to MomwithHope now. As you state “for all we know Sandusky could have killed the boy...” That’s the point!! .....
MomwithHope calls 911, the first responders are COVERT. The building/area is SEALED OFF. The perpetrator now cannot escape with the LITTLE boy.
And highly trained SWAT law marksmen/women officers are now positioned.
More honesty from me: Even though you never answered my post#252, I have enough faith in the charity of other FReepers that I KNOW you would have come to the rescue of that raped child -- or any person of any age who was in immediate mortal danger. I apologize to you because it was truly uncharitable of me to think that anyone -- FReeper or otherwise -- could actually walk away from a child being raped. Maybe I have blinders on, I don't know, but it is impossible for me to conceive of anyone betraying the trust of an innocent person in such a cold-blooded, heinous, cowardly way.
My visceral hatred was always aimed at McQueary. I took it out on you. I'm sorry.
Now in my defence -- LOL! -- I think you need to reread your post #215. That was the one that started it all for me. In hindsight, I'm sure you meant it glibly, but it was an incendiary thing to say. And it worked: it lit me up!
FReegards.

SHAME!!
