You make very good points. Sandusky is a physically imposing man who had a lot of authority; he would make many women and children quite fearful, not just physically but for their economic well-being. In addition, they are basically in a one-show town that has almost religious respect for anything Paterno and the Penn State football program does — remember, its not only their reputation but the fact that the $ 75 million annual profit this program makes employs a lot of people and buys a lot from stores, restaurants and hotels in town. It is not easy going up against a demi-god and the money others make off of him - remember what happened to St. Paul when he shut down the vendors selling idols in Ephesis.
Yes, the silversmiths in Ephesus were none too happy with Paul upsetting their applecart.
Considering the riots were because he was fired and not because he attacked little kids I can well imagine the response when anyone tried to report this.
There is another aspect of the grooming of young boys. Homosexual predators do not just "jump" their victims without first working very gradually to gain their trust through attention and gifts. Then they pull a guilt trip/blackmail line on the kid "Here I spent all this time on you and gave you x, y and z. Do you have any idea how much that cost? Are you gonna repay me in cash or??? Maybe I should send a bill to your mom...."
We’ll see how big and tough he is when he goes to prison.
Unfortunately, a relative of mine spent time in prison. He assures me that the stories about the utter hatred and contempt your average prisoner has for child rapists/molesters/killers is 100% true. They are the lowest of the low. They are beaten, tortured, and raped repeatedly. The food they are served is often spoiled and contaminated with bodily waste in an effort to make them violently ill. In some cases, slip and fall’s don’t you know, they turn up dead.
If Jerry Sandusky ends up in prison(because he hasn’t commited suicide), he will wish he had never been born.
