Occupy Oakland has placed a large donation they received into an account at Wells Fargo. The group is an off-shoot of the Occupy Wall Street demonstration taking place in the financial district of New York City, known for their anti-corporate greed stance and “we are the 99%” statements, which refers to the growing difference in who the wealthy are.
Occupy Wall Street made the $20,000 donation to Occupy Oakland following the October 26th raid and arrests in the Bay area. According to a statement from the Oakland group, the money is being held at Wells Fargo. Specifically, the money is in a trust fund at Wells Fargo belonging to Timothy Fong, a lawyer.

Why didn’t they just cash the check, put the money in a cardboard box, and put the box on a table in the middle of their encampment? With a sign on that said “take what you need, but not what you greed” or something like that.
I mean, since they hate bankers and are all morally superior and everything.
And more evidence that occupy is a fake movement: the disrupt politicians that vote against bank bailouts but not those that voted for bank bailouts.

$20,000 would buy a lot of party supplies. Knowing these people, they are holding the money in reserve to pay the City of Oakland for police and sanitation worker’s overtime.
Maybe some of the people whose businesses were destroyed in the riots can sue for damages and tie up the OWS money until their suit is settled.
