'Occupy Wall Street' protesters interrupt Bachmann speech [ Proof it's not about banks or bailouts]

ABOARD THE USS YORKTOWN -- What was billed as a major foreign policy speech by Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's campaign ground to a halt during several tense minutes today when a group of protesters abruptly took the stage aboard a decommissioned aircraft carrier near Charleston.

What appeared to be an Occupy Wall Street group read from a printed manifesto charging that Bachmann "parade[s] as a grassroots candidate" while receiving support from a controversial conservative super PAC group, Americans for Prosperity.

Police led Bachmann -- visibly distressed -- off the stage until the protesters marched from the berth of the ship, chanting "we are the 99-percent," a phrase popularized by the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Bachmann took the podium again and asked, "Don't you love the First Amendment?"

A man accompanying the protesters who identified himself as a media liaison for the group would not comment to NBC at the event but said that the protest "speaks for itself," adding that it was "intense."

The group later sent a press release to NBC saying "we took advantage of the moment to address the system and the people within it as to the unjust role of corporate money in politics."

Bachmann told reporters following her speech that while she believed the protesters had the right to exercise free speech, they were disrespectful of the veterans who came to hear her speak.

"It was ironic that you had a group of young people and it was a very disrespectful and ignorant move to take action in the midst of veterans who fought to give them the right to do that," she said of the protest.

More evidence that Occupy is a fake movement.

And the fact that all available thought by those who support it is reserved for use just to keep them from peeing themselves.

They are about as collectively bright as a black hole.

We are in a very dark age.

Ignorance is celebrated at every turn. The Citizen no longer trusts Law. Science is suspect. Government is corrupted. The market is rigged.

There aren’t a whole lot of positive, long-term, outcomes. IF you believe in the History of Man.

A setup. It would not take much to give M. Bachmann a little advice on coming out the winner in those situations.

From my vacation this summer. Time was too short this trip to visit the Yorktown, but I'm definitely going back to Charleston again and taking it in.

"More evidence that Occupy is a fake movement.

Correctamundo NoLibZone:

Michele Bachmann - TARP

Summary

Congresswoman Bachmann has opposed the TARP program from it's inception, and voted against the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, which created the TARP program. With the initial collapse of Bear-Stearns and the panic which ensued afterwards, Congresswoman Bachmann called for calm, and mocked the repeated assertions of "too big to fail."

As it became obvious that a government program would be created to address the financial crisis, Congresswoman Bachmann stated that Congress was being told that the consequences of inaction or even of deliberative action would be severe; but that the consequences of hasty action were just as dire. She noted that Secretary Paulson is asking taxpayers to pony-up $700 billion to buy Wall Street’s debt without a vote by the American people. She stated that shareholders in companies that receive government funds should not make a profit off those funds, and referred to the taxpayers as the "forgotten man."

As the TARP program came into focus, Congresswoman Bachmann noted that the US people had been told numerous times that financial commitments to Bear-Stearns, AIG, and Fannie-Mae and Freddie-Mac would solve the problems and each time more bailouts were requested. She stated that the bailouts should stop and that Fannie and Freddie should be placed into receivership.... etc. etc. etc.

And unlike one of her well-funded oponents - she NEVER said ""[government] Owning a part of the major banks in America is not a bad thing."

I’m glad the zOmbies keep bringing up the economy.

Isn’t Billionairess Penny Pritzker the National Finance Chairworman for the Obama Campaign - and didn’t her Chicago family-owned Superior Bank FAIL in 2001 from doing subprime loans for ACORN?

Yep.
