Particularly Southern men flirt, though in tasteful ways... I was raised in an environment wherein it was good manners to behave flirtatiously with women in social settings. If you didn't flatter them artfully and show attention in social situations, you were considered ill-mannered and boorish.

Yeah, sure. We all know that in conservative Southern culture it's OK for married men to hit on women. That's a slur on Southern men.

I have no idea if Cain is guilty of any of these accusations. I sincerely hope he isn't because I like a lot of what he stands for. But I find this "Cain can do no wrong because he's conservative" attitude to be a betrayal of our fundamental values.

We were outraged when Clinton was accused of sexual indiscretions, and rightly complained when the media turned a blind eye. And now some of us are content to "turn a blind eye" to potential sexual indiscretions - after all, this time it's "our guy."

Like I said, I sincerely hope all of these allegations are proven false. But if any of them do turn out to be substantiated, we need to be willing to face up to it. That doesn't mean I wouldn't vote for the man over Obama, but I have to say it would likely mean that I would choose to support a conservative who lived his or her values in the GOP primaries.
