Rick Perry swiftly came to the spin room after the end of the GOP debate Wednesday night and directly told reporters that he screwed up on stage.
"I'm glad I had my boots on tonight," Perry said. "I stepped in it out there." Continue Reading
Perry froze up on stage as he attempted to list the three federal departments he planned to cut, naming Education and Commerce but forgetting the Department of Energy.
Said Perry: "I may have forgotten Energy, but I haven't forgotten my conservative principles."
Asked by a reporter if that moment was embarrassing, Perry said: "I stepped in it, man. Yeah, it was embarrassing. Of course it was."

The next debate is Saturday night....just three days from now. I don’t know what the format is.
I don’t care what anyone thinks about Perry politically. In the end Obama will lose and at least Perry has the basic decency to admit he messed up.Holder and Obama need to take some lessons from Perry on this.Has anyone heard Holder apologize for NOT apologizing to the Terry Family or taken a lick of responsibility?Has anyone heard a word from Obama about his live microphone gaffe dissing the Jewish vote and Israel? No, because the MSM won’t allow it.They want Perry in the news.
I am not a diehard Perry supporter at this moment but he should not drop out.It is a debate for Godsakes.Obama dissed Israel on a live microphone and Holder gets a media pass from what should be his resignation and or impeachment? But Rick Perry is being tried for a brain fart? A lot of Presidents may not be the king of debates.Porky Pig could beat Obama in a debate.Calling for Perry to get out of the race because of this is just plain wrong.
No comparison. Obama is the President not a candidate (yet). Perry is in a job interview and screwed up horribly. We can use the gaff from Obama next year when he is job interviewing again. Right now it is all about picking a Republican nominee. I know you love Perry but my recommendation is get as much as you can from watching Perry now because he will not be the nominee under any circumstances. Well I guess the other 7 could drop out and leave him the nominee by default, but that is highly unlikely.
He ‘stepped in it’ when he called us ‘heartless.’
True dat and then some.
Shame on you.
An ethical doctor *wouldn’t* make a diagnosis as you did, and most of us *couldn’t* with any confidence that we’d prevail at court, and we’d be destroyed at a seminar/M&M.
Regardless of ethics, the observed behavior - the gestalt - does not come anywhere near pathological or indicative of a syndrome. There would be other deficiencies in evidence - although those deficiencies might require an actual examination by a practicing, experienced physician to certify with any sort of professional competence.
Watch out for the fall from that high horse you’re trying to ride.
No, I will stay right here where I have always been as a True Conservative and yet one with Civility. Do you see Cain EVER bashing another, no because he is CIVIL, yet you are reflecting on him as a spokesman.
The point is the vicious bashing of Perry in favor of Cain, really reflects on Cain. Cain is a gentleman, and I doubt if he would approve of all the vicious bashing of another candidate or the Perry supporters on F.R. Would he?
Sometimes it seems as if the Cain people on here, would like to see Perry "Black Hawk Downed", that is how vicious it has become. Who's next, when & if Perry folds?
Now tell me where you think I am a Perry Backer? ROFL.
Perhaps he has no political record, but he's certainly got a long and impressive resume. Yes, he's got a record. Just not in politics.
The last poll I saw had Cain and Romney tied at 21% and Perry and Newt virtually tied at around 11-12 percent.
You must not have been watching the race all that closely for the last month or so. All of those numbers have shifted drastically. Cain is running around 30%, Romney around 24%, Newt about 21%, and Perry's around 8%.
Perry is sliding into oblivion because of his terrible debate performances, and because voters have had time to do their own vetting. He's just not doing a good job selling himself, and voters aren't all that impressed with what they're finding on their own.
I can’t fall or fail by pointing out good medical ethics.
Well said, bud. I hate revisionists.
After your assault on Herman Cain's integrity as 'not pro-life enough' for you, I realized I no longer valued your opinion, so you can understand why your 'shame on you' rings hollow, very hollow.
My criteria for memory lost that’s normal or depression vs. organic/Alzheimer’s/brain damage: if it doesn’t get in the way of your life, no worries; if it bothers you, it’s probably not Alzheimer’s or a stroke; if you aren’t bothered by getting lost/starting fires, forgetting to bathe, you probably have an organic brain disorder.
Well said. hahahahaha
I said “shame on you” because due to our years of conversation on this board, I know that you have a normally high sense of ethics.
The problem with Cain is his inability to explain or his lack of understanding of the roll of government and governors in laws and regulations when it comes to abortion. In July on Stossel and in October on CNN and everywhere on the following day, he made contradictory and extremely poor comments on abortion. He finally said - both in July and recently - that he meant that government shouldn’t interfere if a woman or families choose an illegal act.
Cain makes these “gaffes” over days and months, not on the spur of the moment. This leads me to believe that his thoughts and beliefs are the problem.
Now there's some tribal support, if I ever saw it. I think Perry supporters have nothing left, but to simply circle the wagons and soldier on because he's their favorite son. He's certainly not giving anyone else a compelling reason to support him.
Perry's record and stance on the issues was already enough to ping the radar of most well-informed conservatives, but his onstage gaffes sealed his fate. He will not recover from these public fumbles.
