Fox 43 News in Hampton Roads (VA Beach) VA reported that a possible sonic boom from an offshore aircraft occured around 8-9 PM this evening. I heard it and couldn't tell what it was. Just curious to know if anyone else heard it. This is the link http://www.fox43tv.com/dpps/news/local/va_beach/possible-sonic-boom-felt-in-va.-beach_3985342

Probably right, but despite all the air traffic we get very few sonic booms.

Isn’t Pax River NAS somewhat close by? I don’t know if the ban on supersonic flight over populated areas extends to ocean areas bordering those areas.

Jeez, I used to lie in that area. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t the occasional sonic boom.

Sonic booms make the news? When I was little we used to hear them frequently and we were in lower Hanover.

Republicians took control of the Virginia Senate last night. Maybe it was the collective crash of Democrat jaws hitting the floor.

I understand that you must have the Penn Yan Aero Super-Double-Secret 180 hp conversion in your 007 Spy C172....perhaps?

You think you're the only one to go supersonic in a 172? I've done it.
[Of course I had a 600 knot tailwind.]
