It’ll either be Gingrich or Cain. Romney is not well liked by most of the party. Though he could still be the VP pick for the conservative front-runner reaching out to the GOP’s moderate wing. Reagan did it with Bush.

Though [Romney] could still be the VP pick for the conservative front-runner reaching out to the GOP’s moderate wing. Reagan did it with Bush.

Which, upon reflection, was a huge mistake.

Had Reagan's presidency been followed by another conservative administration -- rather than a mushy moderate -- the U.S. would be in much better shape today.

Here it is almost a quarter-of-a-century later...and we're still looking for Reagan's successor.

Great debaters don't necessarily make great presidents.

Debating skills are not as important as his/her leadership ability, management know-how, personal ethical and morality foundation, etc.

Yeah. Which got us the odious Bill Clinton four years later.

I hope Cain or Gingrich will be smart enough to not make the same mistake this time. The #1 issue in this election is really vision. All solutions to our problems must first start with a clearly articulated and well pursued vision about first American principles -- liberty, free markets, limited government and the right of people to pursue honest livings without interference from that government.

As I see it, at this point the only viable candidates in a position to articulate that vision are Gingrich and Cain.

The successor to a Cain or Gingrich administration must be someone who will carry on and expand on that vision. Romney will not be able to do that.
