Writing for Washington Monthly, Jonathan Alter seems impressed that the Obama administration has, in his view, avoided scandal so far:
Yet for almost three years, the administration has been scandal-less, not scandalous.
Apparently we have become so inured to egregious misconduct on the part of those whom we have elected to serve in the highest positions of public trust, that an absence of such behavior is an occasion to celebrate.
"But wait," readers might ask, "what about 'Project Gunwalker'? Is it not scandalous that our own government armed the most brutal criminals in North America, contributing to the deaths of at least two federal agents, and hundreds of Mexicans?"
This very morning, Attorney General Eric Holder will be explaining to the Senate Judiciary Committee that an operation largely (but not exclusively, by any means) the purview of his department will be killing innocent people for years (but that it's Bush's fault, or something). That's not a scandal?
That can't be right, obviously. In a five page article, though, perhaps there is room to explain why such an atrocity should not be considered a "scandal."
Not on page one.
Not on page two.
Not on . . . oh, here it is, on page three:
Republicans, [Brendan Nyhan] says, are shifting to the National Labor Relations Boards tiff with Boeing (right-wingers charge without evidence that Obama partisans have assembled an enemies list), and to allegations that the ATFs bungled Operation Fast and Furious (in which straw purchases to track the flow of guns into Mexico led to some weapons falling into the hands of criminals) might become, as Representative Issa claims, Obamas Iran-Contra.

The truth, and the new media, will set us free!
Gunwalker ping.
They are right. Fast and Furious is not yet a scandal because most of the RINOs are quiet.
Jonathan Alter is a Fascist Pig. There is no abuse so smarmy that he will quail to embrace it fully.
FANTASTIC publication, wow..!
I’ll go back there fore sure.
I guess his affair with Larry Sinclair isn’t a scandal because the MSM didn’t report it.
It's Leaky Leahy's committee. Sweeping it under the rug is the very reason why he re-opened hearings on Fast & Furious.
But the threat isn't coming from the Senate, it's coming from Issa's committee in the House. And he's not done yet...
Fantasy Island redux...with real fantasies from the pen of a living cartoon. PING!
Sedition, subversion of Federal laws, murder and state-sponsored terrorism within a friendly foreign nation don’t count.
