Who Believes Herman Cain? (Here's what the polls tell us...)
New York Times ^ | 11/09/2011 | Charles M. Blow

I saw that. I saw you grimace when you read Herman Cain’s name in yet another headline. (Well, at least I imagined it.) Relax. This is about a narrow subject: conflicting poll results from major polling groups on who does or doesn’t believe the allegations against him. All my numbers nerds say, “Yeah!”

I for one thought that Cain would weather the sexual harassment accusations if no more women came forward and no new details emerged. But earlier this week, both happened. Still, Cain stuck to the defensive plan that echoed his economic plan: deny, deny, deny.

So the crucial question becomes, who would believe whom? Polling produced some relatively predictable results: Democrats were more likely to believe the accusations than Republicans, and women took them more seriously than men.

Polls on this subject, in my opinion, are a waste of time. Look....this administration is scared to death of Cain and will do anything to knock him out of the race. This is just the beginning and I think Herman Cain will come out of this for the better once people realize what is going on.

Before I read it let me guess...

People who already supported Cain believe him. People who were against him don’t believe him. People who were undecided are undecided.

Am I close?

I don’t care about the polls. I’m still leaning toward Cain. These accusations haven’t changed that. If these women (who so far seem to be professional victims or women seeking a few mintues of fame) provide real evidence, then I might reconsider.

I find it interesting that Republican leaning women are better at detecting BS than their male counterparts.

That was my first thought too LOL!!!

All of these polls were taken before Bialek and Kraushaar came out.

I want to see the polls AFTER this media circus. A lot of people I know who were on the fence, are starting to realize these two are just not very credible

RE: And this is why women should never have been give the vote

Is the above statement grounds for sexual harassment?

:)

and women took them more seriously than men.

From the polls, it seems REPUBLICAN women were more likely to believe Cain that REPUBLICAN men.

That in itself is a fascinating result, and the exact opposite of the "women are going to turn on Cain" meme we've been hearing.

My sense is that a lot of women, regardless of political affiliation, DO NOT like Buy A Lick. They have seen women like her before and they abhor her. Gloria the Red may have made a huge miscalculation with this one.

My contributions to Cain campaign have more than doubled since the 14 year old allegations surfaced a few days back.

There are 5 allegations. 3 of them are anonymous. 4th is from Chicago who has bankruptcies, paternity suits, in her bio and lives in the same building as Axelrod. 5th is now working in Obama admin, and has history of filing complaints at other jobs.

Why no allegations surfaced during Cain's last campaign for senator? Why nothing surfaced when he was far behind in presidential nomination polls? Why did they surface only after he became a threat to win the nomination? Who is scared of a Cain nomination?

agree with all comments regarding the polls, but the one thing this tells us is that this Half-Vast Left Wing Conspiracy to undermine Heerman Cain is not working.
