“Well then, that sheds some more light on this doesn’t it? Why haven’t you condemned all those other “everyones” for their failure to report what was going on to the police? After all, you allege they knew about it...... And as a side note, just who are those “everyones” and if they knew about it, why are you singling out Joe Paterno???????

Just because you don't see the rain in Spain doesn't mean it doesn't rain in Spain.
Joe didn’t report it to the all the proper authorities.
Paterno with the power he wields could have done something years ago. Instead he stood silent and this monster continued to prey on victims.
He reported it “to his superior the AG”. Let’s examine the relationship between Paterno and Curley to see who’s the “superior”. From the PS football media guide:
“[Tim Curley] grew up in a house across from Old Beaver Field and was a member of the undefeated 1971 State College Area High School football team. He joined Paternos football team as a walk-on after that and had his career cut short by injuries. After graduating from PSU with a bachelors degree in health and physical education, Curley served as a graduate assistant on the PSU coaching staff and soon became Paternos first full-time recruiting coordinator in 1978.,,,For Curley, it was onward and upward in PSU athletics as time passed by.,,,He was named an assistant athletic director in 1982 and promoted to associate athletic director in 1992. Curley was elevated to athletic director a year later when Jim Tarman retired.”
Curley is/was a 40 yr. Paterno disciple. No way would Curley fail to follow Paterno’s lead in 2002 re Sandusky. Whatever was or wasn’t done by Curley was exactly the way Paterno wanted it imo.
This article does a decent job of summing things up back when the GJ was still going strong.
I'd be almost willing to bet that the parents of the boys who were assaulted by Sandusky will end up owning a large part if not all of PSU
We are not. We simply refuse to let him get a pass while we go after all the people who (as a group) should have stopped this.
No being allowed to be separate from the rest of the group is, in fact, the opposite of being singled out.
Why did Sandusky resign in '99, less than a year after the incident in '98 was brought to the attention of the police? Did Paterno know of this incident? Did he or someone else pressure Sandusky to resign from PSU at that time?
The "unconfirmed allegation" came from a former PSU quarterback and current (at the time) graduate assistant. This wasn't some guy off the street, but someone that Paterno relied upon to QB his team and thought well enough of him to bring in as a GA and later hired as a full-time coach. Didn't Paterno think this was a credible source? And even if the young man may have been vague in his description of the more graphic details, isn't it enough to know that someone who has access to literally hundreds of kids was seen alone with a little boy in the locker room, both of them totally naked?
If instead of Sandusky, McQueary had reported seeing a janitor showering and doing something of a sexual nature with a little boy, would Paterno have responded the same way? Or would he have called 911 and done everything in his power to make sure the guy never ever went anywhere near the football facilities again?
As time went by and nothing seemed to happen, did it occur to Paterno that perhaps the higher ups were trying to sweep this ugly incident under the rug in order to preserve the reputation of the University? Were his hands completely tied in terms of taking the matter to more neutral authorities instead of it being dealt entirely in-house? And was he aware that Sandusky kept showing up at the football facilities with kids in tow long after this incident?
I am not. I am lumping him in with all the others. You are the one singling out Joe.
Paterno was right to report the incident, as he knew it, to his boss. He was wrong to not even try and follow up on it. After all, from that time on he was aware of a child being sexually abused - by someone he knew. Didn’t that bother him? None of the “adults” there were interested in doing the right thing.
Good!
Now, who killed Ray Gricar?
I disagree. Jerry Sandusky was just an assistant coach. If Sandusky was caught screwing a 13 year old girl, he would have been in jail within hours, or at least escorted off the campus never to return.
The key issue here was that Sandusky is a homosexual. Terminating Sandusky BECAUSE of a homosexual incident would have caused the campus Velvet Mafia to target Spanier in a thousand ways until he was gone. Look at what happened to people identified as supporting anti-gay-marriage legislation.
Oh , for God's sake, we're not saying he should be thrown in jail, we're saying he should be FIRED. Every summer for 6 summers afterwards he saw Sandusky bring his little boys to training camp; there was always one in particular that he brought everywhere. The rumors about him circulated freely, but good ole Joe wasnt about to have HIS Program brought under the microscope, was he? Whats a few sodomized little boys compared to the great Penn State football team!
I suspect more will come out about the "conversations " that occured between higher up officials and Paterno subsequent to the grad students report. But, personally, I wouldnt wait for it. The amoral fossil has to go Now!
Actually, IMO, the key issue was that the victims were little boys, not little girls. Society is less attentive when it comes to boys, and boys have a tendency to clam up and internalize from shame from sexual abuse.
I would bet you theres a lot more than 8 victims out there, probably more like 2 dozen at least.
You should watch who you call liberal - but on second thought, you’re clearly too blind to watch anything. Keep up with your slander; at your level of brown nosing it’s amusing, you David Cash fan you.
After I read the Grand Jury indictment, and thought about it awhile, I came to the same conclusion: Everything probably would have been handled differently by Penn State if Sandusky had been seen having sex with 10-yr old GIRL in a campus shower room.
The indictment is curiously vague about what McQueary told Paterno the next day. Paterno’s claim that he didn’t know “very specific” details sounds like something Bill Clinton would say. And even if McQueary wasn’t exactly clear about what he had witnessed, a man in Paterno’s place should have asked specific questions, so there was no doubt about what McQueary was describing.
If Paterno didn’t ask such questions, it’s because he knew what the likely answers would be, and didn’t want to hear it.
they're all nazi's....
what “guy” was a homosexual?..
I think that men tend to dismiss sexual crimes overall.
..there was a thread the other night about sexual harrassment in grade and high schools and there was a majority who thought it just fun and games.
...this same mentality probably ran thru the Penn State coaching ring....some probably convinced themselves that it wasn't really "sex" sex...some might have decided that the young kid "wanted" it....
we need to get back to a society where there is RIGHT and there is WRONG......
