Okay everyone...approaching 2:00pm Eastern...ready for the "Big EAS Test"?
Right on cue, Fox News went out and the EAS Emergency activation screen came up:
A Primary Entry Point has initiated an Emergency Action Notification
I was watching cable and listening to a local news station. The local radio station’s message got cut off after about 10 seconds...there was nothing for 30 MORE seconds, and the 3 EOM (End Of Message) tones came on.
If I was watching cable, I’d have heard the whole message. If I was listening to that particular radio station, I’d have heard part of it. Methinks the engineer of that station (KOMO) has some work to do.
We survived, Barry the Boob didn’t declare a takeover, and life goes on as (whatever you may consider) normal.
I was streaming the National Networks none went off the air while they did on my cable system
“This is a test of the emergency broadcast system. If this had been an actual emergency, we would have fled in terror and you would not have been informed.”
It if had lasted just a little longer, I wouldn’t have to be listening to Michelle Bachmann right now.
My local stations didn’t go off at all, and my satellite stations from Direct TV was only off about 30 secs. and was garbled the whole time.
First, no asteroid; now this...WTF? Something is going to go wrong with my Thanksgiving turkey; I just know it.
You wouldn’t happen to be in Grovers Mill, New Jersey by any chance?
I have Centurylink Prism tv. I did not get any warning. Just had Megyn Kelly talking about it. My nephew flipped through a bunch of radio stations and it did not work on many of them.
The message I got during the test was: Be sure to drink your Ovaltine...
** A great fizzle.**
Well, they made up for it here.
No kidding.
Here’s how they did it in 1956. Now THIS is scary!

Helicopters overhead. Ohhhh nooooooo!!!!
....................
So will we be subjected to these tests on a weekly basis until they get it right?
All I got was Meghan Kelly talking about here comes the test. Then...she started talking again and Bachmann came on. So far as I can tell, nothing here.
I have Time Warner Cable, its STILL on EAS..got this annoying little atari music in the background. Lucky for me nothing interesting is on TV now otherwise I’d be mega pissed
Did anyone else’s cell phone just croak?!?
I was watching Fox News too, but didn’t see or hear anything.
All I saw was Mygan Kelly warning us that a test was coming and nothing happened, that I saw - except a half second to fadeout to what looked like a return from a commercial break and the Bong sound and Kelly returns and says well that was weird. I think she talked right through the National Test - LOL - did this thing fail?
