North Korea Close to Producing Uranium-Based Warhead, Source Says

Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011

North Korea is almost three-fourths of the way toward a capability to manufacture uranium-based nuclear warheads, an anonymous high-ranking South Korean official told the Yonhap News Agency on Monday (see GSN, Nov. 7).

The official asserted that North Korea's uranium enrichment program at Yongbyon was now a "small industry," capable of generating nuclear weapons. North Korea one year ago first revealed its uranium work to the world.

The only known uranium enrichment plant that U.S. specialists were allowed to tour was estimated to contain some 2,000 centrifuges.

"It seems that North Korea has completed 70 percent of the process to be able to make one or two nuclear weapons per year," the official said on the sidelines of an international nonproliferation and disarmament conference on Jeju Island in South Korea (Yonhap News Agency I, Nov. 7).

Pyongyang's controversial enrichment of uranium was not a topic on the agenda of the recent bilateral U.S.-North Korea talks in Geneva, Yonhap reported.

Why has it allegedly taken so long for Iran and North Korea to produce atomic weapons?

The basic engineering design, the machine tools, and the enrichment processes have been widely known for decades.

I think both those countries have been stockpiling viable weapons for years.

Both countries practice “profound isolation” from the rest of the world, so anything is possible.

These countries have had nuclear weapons for some time. That is why they are still around.

Having the capabilities of producing a crude nuclear device and one that can be deployed on a missile are two different things. That’s probably why the NK tests have been less than spectacular in yield.

In a perfect world, Kim Jong Mentally-Ill would be offended by something his Chinese masters either do or don’t do, and manages to deliver a nuke via Il-28/H-5 right on top of Beijing.

Don’t laugh, Kim is crazy as a sh*thouse rat, and capable of doing it.

That can't be ruled out, if they sense that Chicom is about to stab NK in the back.

In the case of Iran it’s been suggested that they somewhat conciously chose a “go-slow” approach — not allowing weapon development to get too far ahead of warhead or delivery systems. This way when they announce that they are a nuclear-power they have the “full-package.”. Otherwise, they simply make themselves a target for the US, Israel or an international coalition.

Yes.

I've posted several times on the unmentioned “backstory” of Libya.

Five years ago, England and the USA jawboned and bribed Gaddafi out of nuclear arms development.

Six months ago, NATO began trying to kill him.

Every tyrant in the world has learned the lesson of Libya.....

No one tries to kill you if you have nuclear weapons.

Yup, one of the greater unpublicized stories of the War on Terrorism is story of the Pakistani AQ Khan Network of Islamic Manhattan Program for Nuclear Proliferation and the Worldwide Islamic WMD Black Market that GW Bush put an end to.

Saddam basically outsourced his Nuclear WMD program to Libya and Syria. He provided Iraqi nuclear Engineers, scientists and technicians and was funding it with Oil For Food Money.

Pakistan covertly supplied the technology through AQ Khan, the father of the “Islamic Bomb”.

Critical parts came from Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, Turkey, North Korea, France, Germany, Russia, and even from the US through various cut outs

This was destination of Nigerian Yellow Cake Saddam was trying to obtain - Iraq already had many tons of the stuff.

Libya had the full technical package needed including detailed blue prints to produce a working device .

When my Dem friends bring up the whole “Bush lied about WMDs” I casually mention that the WMD threat was actually much worse than we ever dreamed.

When they tell me I am crazy and full of BS , I Google AQ Khan network on my iPhone and watch their heads explode. I have yet to find one person who had even the slightest knowledge of this. They are shocked and concerned to learn about this and are amazed that this was never publicized. All they ever heard was the constant media propaganda that concerns about the threats of WMDs were totally false and fraudulently used to justify an attack on Iraq to get their oil.

The media really did their best to cover up the discovery and dismantling of a world wide state sponsored Islamic consortium to develop and proliferate nuclear weapons.

The media lied and a lot of people are going to die when the true extent of the nuclear proliferation becomes public.
